E-mails From Friends
Friday. Wait...wasn't it Monday just yesterday?! A super fast week. And only two more of the term. I'm a little stressed about that, but more surprised that it's already (almost) over.
Finished watching RomeoxJuliet last night. I was satisfied with the ending. That Ophelia lady is a creepee, especially in the last three episodes. The vice president hated RxJ though....oh, well. I wish people in club would be more responsive. It's very difficult trying to find out what people want to watch next when they won't say anything or come to a consensous.
We had the first frost of the year a couple of days ago. Should have come two months ago (why is everything two months late?!). Well, fall's over, everyone! Here's winter.
The highlight of the day was getting an e-mail from a friend in Japan. She was an exchange student a couple of years ago and I had lost track of her. Then I got an e-mail today, so I am happy.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
Fall, Finally
The rain has officially set in, practically two months later than usual. I can say now, "Fall is here. Finally." I love it though, so it's all good.
Except this morning was not good at all. I casted resin yesterday and set it outside to dry ('cause fumes are toxic and all that) and with the weather, it has to sit outside for a couple days before it's dry enough for me to bring inside. So anyway, I went to go check on it this morning and found it missing. I checked the dumpster and that's where I found all of my things. I couldn't quite wrap my brain around it for a second. I had specifically put a sign on the box saying not to disturb and if there was a problem to come see me. Obviously someone didn't pay attention. I managed to salvage my bottle of resin but the molds and the casts were completely ruined or lost. So now I have to start out completely from scratch.
I'm on a bit of a Korean kick right now. I've always really liked K-pop but I actually bought a CD a little while ago, along with a TV drama. If anyone knows how to make a very good drama, it is the Koreans. Actually, I got into a discussion with a Korean exchange student about music and TV once. That was a lot of fun.
Other than this morning, life's been generally uninteresting. I've been too busy to do much else other than work and school and clubs. I miss my creative outlets.
Well, I hope everyone is doing well. Till next time.
Post-Halloween
I hope everyone had a good Halloween. I personally am not really into holidays but I dressed up anyway and passed out candy to the kids. Two of my friends (who are dating each other) dressed up as mimes and ran around and posed with people, etc. Best costumes this year (besides the family that dressed up as charaters from the Wizard of Oz).
Yesterday I also tried to cast resin for the first time. Wasn't a great experience. It's a lot harder than it looks but I'll keep on trying anyway. I've got lots of the materials, I might as well use them. But I sort of have to work fast because if it's too cold, the resin will freeze and we don't want that happening.
Anime Club had an art contest for October. We got five submissions. I was just happy to have gotten anything out of anyone. Hopefully our next event (a sort of making hats to-your-order thing) will bring in a lot of money so we can get out of the red.
Oh, and I did take back those CDs that I bought (see last two posts). I think owning pirated stuff is worse than ripping them off the internet for free. I mean, you're paying SOMEONE for this merchandise and it's not the artist that you appreciate. So I took it back and felt much better for it. At least not all of the stuff in that store is pirated.
Ah, November. Registration of classes starts soon. And the term is half way over. I'm excited. Hoping everyone is well. Till next time.
Upset
So those CDs I bought yesterday ended up being pirated. I'm disappointed.
Homecoming Weekend
I promised that I'd make a decent update this time so here we go.
I finally managed to get caught up with homework last night. The cold is relatively gone now. I'm going to keep working all this weekend, get ahead of the game so I won't be bogged down in homework when my cousin comes to visit me again this next weekend.
Went to my first Mid-Autumn Moon Festival yesterday. We had jellies, moon cakes, peanuts, and jasmin (?) tea. They also had a lion dance and a sing-along in Chinese. All was a lot of fun.
Today some friends and I went to this local anime store that just opened last year. Oh my god, it was amazing. Everything was super cheap and there was stuff there that had been out of print for years. I bought two CDs and a book. Better yet, we asked the owner if he would be willing to donate items to Anime Club in exchange for advertisement and he agreed! It made my day.
Oh, speaking of club, we're watching RomeoXJuliet this month and it's fantastic. It has cross-overs like Tsubasa and the art is really cute. Check it out if you can--even if you don't like Shakespear!
