I Hit the Road

Ladies and gentlemen, Meat Loaf.

Hello once again, everyone. Just thought I'd do another post to let everyone know how I've been doing. To start with, my dad has been out of town since last Thursday. He went on another one of his trips to Colorado and won't be back until Wednesday or Thursday this week. Which means I've pretty much got the house to myself for awhile. It's just been me and my cat.

I've had a pretty good weekend for the most part. Though there were a couple of aggravating parts. The first came on Friday when I had to drive my aunt back from the garage where her car had to be fixed. She didn't say what the problem was, but I assume it was merely a minor mechanical problem. But the somewhat aggravating part was when she told me that she needed me to drive her back to the garage in like an hour. I mean I didn't mind doing that, but the problem was that driving her around was taking away from my time to write. I hadn't really had a lot of time to write during the past week and I really wanted to get the next chapter of my current story done. Plus I feel like my aunt should've told me that I'd need to drive her back that same afternoon in advance.

The second aggravating part of my weekend came yesterday when I had to take care of some yard work. In addition to mowing the lawn (which is always hell), I had to pull out some weeds that were growing out of a decorative rock bed next to the house. Those weeds were hard to pull out! I broke the spade off of a hand shovel I tried using on one. I also somehow pulled a groin muscle and screwed up my right wrist. And I'm still only half way done. I'm going to have to get back to it in a day or two.

So now we come to the reason for the title of this post as well as the music video included above. Today I of course decided to take a break from the yard work. Partly because rain was expected today (and expectations were not disappointed). So I was going to try and get started on another chapter of my current story. But I just couldn't get going on it. Part of the reason is because I've lost some of the drive to do this story. I don't know if it's because I just haven't been able to work on the story for awhile or something else. I've thought about taking a break from the story for a bit to work on this other idea of mine, but I'm not sure I want to do that since I'm so close to finishing the story I'm currently on.

Anyway, my mind was partly on getting the first volume of this new manga series that came out the middle of last week. That was making it a little hard to get started on the next chapter of my story. Plus I've been a little stuck on how to do that chapter. So instead of writing I thought to myself, "the heck with it," and just drove out of town to get to a bookstore for that manga. I've probably mentioned this before, but there's no bookstore in my town. There used to be, but it closed down a few years ago. And it was one of those Mom & Pop operations that was the last place where one could find manga.

Back to my story, it actually felt pretty good just to cut loose and take a drive out of town. The trip went smoothly, and the whole way down I was listening to a radio station that was playing 80's music. I got the usual Barns & Noble I go to for manga. A Barns & Noble that sadly may be closing down in the future due to the dead mall it's currently attached to being renovated. I went in, and in less than I minute I found the manga I was looking for.

So I went in, got the manga, and got back out on the road. The trip back went pretty smoothly. I got home and read the newest addition to my manga collection. I was not disappointed by this manga. I only wish I knew when the second volume was coming out. Bimonthly manga may be more costly in the long run, but at you don't have to wait as long for a cliffhanger to be resolved. Anyway, today ended up being the best part of my weekend. I finished off the evening by watching the movie version of Dark Shadows staring Johnny Depp. That is just an awesome movie.

That wraps it up for this post. Sorry it ended up being on the long side, but I had a lot that I wanted to get off my chest. Hope everyone else had a good weekend. Until next time.
