Kanto has changed quiet a bit. It's harder to become a trainer but tradition still pushes forwards. I am about to journey out into the world and the adventure of a life time is about to happen. The concept of an undersoul will then make sense.

For those thinking of applying: This RP is meant for Arctic Summer, Amestar, and Lunesoldier20.

Oh god, the nostalgia!

The Indigo Plateau!!

-Kennedy

As everyone disembarked from the bus, I still couldn’t help but think of the girl’s strange action. Like a bolt from the blue! What the heck?

But, oh well. We’re here and I’m probably not going to see Autumn again. Instead, my eyes wander passed the towering heads of older soon-to-be trainers and my eyes rest upon the building, painted a deep blue. Huh, no wonder why it’s called the Indigo Plateau.

“Newly arrived trainers, this way!” someone called. Everyone from the bus began moving carelessly in the direction, to the front doors. I felt like I was apart of a heard of Tauros, ya know, when they’re not all angry and stuff.

As we passed, I noticed flowerbeds. Flowers bloomed and they were the same color as the buildings. Indigos?

The crowd entered the building and I couldn’t help but gasp. The room’s grandeur reminded me of those castles that Mom used to want to decorate our apartment after. High ceilings, chandeliers, bright lights, red carpets. Just…wow!

“Hey, move it!” someone behind me muttered.

I frowned but kept moving. Eventually, we stopped in front of glass doors. A man in a tuxedo held up a megaphone and began shouting into it. I couldn’t help but laugh. What was he? A waiter or a track coach?

“Welcome, new trainers!” he began. “Congratulations on passing the Trainer Application Exam! Here, you take your first steps into a future that you, yourself pave. Before we let you enter the arena to capture your first Pokemon, we have a few General Stark.”

At that moment, a man in the dark blue Kanto military uniform started talking. I didn’t really pay attention to the guy as I looked around. I swear, I saw the exact hat the General wore somewhere among the people in the crowd.

“I understand that many of your parents and friends are worried about the activities of Team Turbulence, but do not be afraid. We have put up military outposts along many of the routes and near cities. Also, you are now to travel in groups of three, designated once you all have captured your first Pokemon.”

Well, that’s a new one on me. I frowned. This wasn’t what I thought it’d be.

“Thank you, Lutentaint,” the tuxedo-coach. “Now, before going through the doors, meet with the Pokemon Mart and gather a single Pokeball.”

It was as if the doors of a store offering free food was opened. People rushed, ran, and even tripped over each other to get a single Pokeball. I had to keep moving so I wasn’t ran over. I guess I have my mother for that amount of speed thanks to her love of shopping.

People crowded around the poor guys that were handing out the Pokeballs. People shouted and the gift givers weren’t fast enough. I flashed my card and got my Pokeball. Then, I turned and forced my way through the crowd.

After a few minutes, everyone had their balls (giggle, snort) and were gather back in front of the doors. I shifted my weight back and forth, the hair on my neck standing up in anticipation. Then the doors open and we all raced in.

My first steps as a trainer.

~~~
'kay guys. Sorry it took so long to get this up! Okay, so feel free to branch off of this and tell your guy's take on what happened. =)
Originality
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK," I ran down the to the bus stop. Mom decided today was the day to be off on my own, and boy was I not doing the greatest. I didn't know what bus to take or anything...
I finally got to the bus stop, and not too soon. The bus had just stopped and opened its doors. I combed my hair with my fingers and put on a smile. First impressions, that's what mom would tell me. First impressions matter. I climbed up on the bus and looked around. Why did Mom choose today to set me off? The bus was packed! I looked around and someone poked me from behind "Get moving," he grunted. I walked forward and noticed a girl with bright green hair. She was sitting by herself. I nervously walked over. “Mind if I sit here?” I asked.
“Go ahead,” she answered, with a smile.
I grinned. What a nice girl! I plopped down next to her. “Hi, my name is Autumn. What Pokemon do you think you’re going to get?” I asked rather quickly. I need to talk waaaaaay less.
“I’m Kennedy. I’m hoping to get my hands on a Growlithe! How about you?” she looked like she was about to laugh.
"Awww they're cute!" I blurted out. Autumn, chill. "Well...I would really like a Pikachu or a Vulpix. Really original huh?"
"Original? Each trainer has their own preferences," she replied, "those are yours, you shouldn't be judged for it."
Wow......
Then, very suddenly I found myself hugging her. Then the bus stopped. Time must have passed pretty quickly. The bus driver called our stop. Time to start my adventure...
To the League!
~Raynard
I am free, out of war of the west. Now apparently decided to become a Pokémon trainer, which is my second desire, first was being in the military. In the military I have realized that I've had changed and learned my lesson during my enlistment. This was not the type of life I have dreamed of as I thought it was full glamour being in a uniform.
Grabbing my entire gear and favorite hat with haste I start for the stairs of my apartment, dropping things in the process.
"Shoot... Stupid me..." I mutter to myself.
As I run through the busy city, I bump into a couple of people and push them aside not even paying attention to others. Checking the time on my watch, I realized that I was late. Soon as I reach the stop, the Saffron buses for Viridian kick off and shift very slowly.
"Wait!" I cried, frowning drastically.
One bus politely brings to a halt and opens, revealing the driver as an older woman smiling down at me.
I quickly scramble up the steps of the bus nearly falling and almost dropping my supplies in hand. Many stare awkwardly at me. A cheesy smile forms on my face and I start blushing.
I took the short bus route from Saffron, to another bus stop in Viridian City to the League to receive my first Pokémon. Or catch in this case.
Arriving in Viridian I sat to the closest bench I saw and sat to organize my documents and alternative supplies.
Everyone obediently lined up at the stop as the bus arrives; kids and young adults begin saying farewell to their parents or relatives. This made me think of my parents whom I never said goodbye to, but I did not got along with them, especially my father, whom I never did. I felt guilty though regardless.
I gathered up my supplies. Boarding the bus, I sat way far back as possible since I really liked to sit in the back. A male around my age asks to sit next to me.
“Sure. No problem,“ I respond with haste.
He smiles and sits. He seems to be watching me carefully, like he’s thinking to himself, ‘he can’t see me’. Nonetheless I can in my peripheral vision. I turn my head to the window while he opens his mouth as if he wants to speak,
Nothing.
The bus starts moving, I continue to look out at the scenery, ignoring the fellow next to me. I honestly feel like an un-socialized loner. Despite that, I’m really not even in the mood for talking. I feel the exhilaration of taking the first step to become a Pokémon trainer.
A couple minutes later I finally see legendary-like statues of certain pokémon trainers with pokémon with them. It appeared we where getting close to the league.
We finally arrived.
Not sure if this is good cause it seems kind of rushed but nonetheless hope this is good lol
Lets kick things off, shall we? [Kennedy]
I leaned against the wall of the building. Aunt Lucy insisted we get here as early as possible, but also in style. From my home in Vermillion City, it was a good few days by boat (or rather, cruise) to get to Viridian City.
I pull out my short pigtails and shake out my newly dyed green hair. I quickly put them back in and wait for the bus that would take me and a large group of people to the Indigo League. A good small crowd has gathered of people ranging from just under my age up to some in their late twenties. Why would anyone at that age be here? I wonder to myself.
Finally, the bus pulls up. The line starts forming and just as I file into line, Aunt Lucy makes a run through to make sure I have everything: a spare change of clothes, a small ration of food, a pocket knife, water, money, iodine, waterbottle, ID, and the works. I affirm everything and give her a smile.
“Aunt Lucy, quit worrying!”
My aunt sniffed. “You’re going out to take on the world like your brother. Now, don’t you make the same mistakes as him!”
“Of course not.” My smile fades, just a tad.
“Be sure not to. Good luck! Write letters!” she called after me as I boarded the bus. I swear, if I turned, she would probably burst into tears as if I was her own daughter. I only lived with Aunt Lucy for a few years, though.
I take a seat near the middle, just as I normally did in the city when on my way to school. For a short while, I sit alone, but a straggler makes it to the bus and boards. As most of the seats are full, she approaches mine. “Mind if I sit here?”
“Go ahead,” I answered, with a smile.
She grinned in response and plopped down next to me, her shoulder-length, red hair bouncing up. “Hi, my name is Autumn. What Pokemon do you think you’re going to get?”
I wanted to laugh slightly at how fast she talked. Instead, I bit the inner side of my mouth to keep the giggling down. “I’m Kennedy. I’m hoping to get my hands on a Growlithe! How about you?”
World Building [Overview]
Government
The governments of Kanto and Johto are currently allies and both are democracies. Travel between them can only be issued by the government in the forms of passes, limited to a certain amount of time. Separate passes for trainers are located in the major cities: Viridian City, Vermillion City, Saffron City, Goldenrod City, and Olivine City. Trainer passes are normally good for a year, but trainers are required to check in monthly at Gyms.
Trainer's License
In order to become a licensed trainer, people must partake in a test. Within the last five years, trainers have been able to capture their own starter, provided at the Indigo League much like the Safari Zone, located in Johto. Upon being registered as a trainer, they are required to go through their home region’s gyms or their license is revoked, thus causing them to loose their Pokemon.
Gyms and Elite Four
Gyms are official facilities to test the strength of a trainer and their problem solving skills. Wins and losses are recorded on computers to keep track of wins and losses digitally. This has made badges obsolete, but many official gym leaders keep handing out badges for tradition’s sake.
Every January, there is a tournament held for those that win eight badges from either Kanto or Johto (not a mixture). The first five are able to go on and fight the Elite Four, along with six that are invited (who skip any tournament to challenge the Elite Four). Three months later, these eleven trainers challenge the Elite Four over the course of twenty-two weeks (to allow the Elite Four some time to rest their Pokemon and appropriately address injuries to their Pokemon).
Contests
Contests are on their own. Many contests are held, independent of government control and are all based on an international organization. Membership is required to participate in Contests, but entry fees are cheap. A small fee also is required to be deposited in order to participate (but these are quite cheap too). The first three places gain ribbons and up to the fifth place gain some form of money reward.
Current Situation
Currently, Kanto and Johto have prepared for war against a region in the west, causing mass rationing and for people to go into the armed forces. Recently, freedom of press and speech have been quieted. Minor riots have started up because of food shortages and doctor shortages. In the meantime, a new rise in an organization called Turbulence has been causing some political trouble.
Team Turbulence
A new organization. Little is known about them at the moment, but they have been causing a mixture of civil disobedience and riots across Kanto and are suspected of doing so in Johto. Their motives currently remain unclear.
