Hi and welcome to my world! This is the new home for my random posts about life and other stuff. My myOtaku site still exists but I won't be updating there anymore. So, thanks for stopping by and enjoy your stay!

At Least Class is Good For Something...

I have learned virtually nothing this semester and I'm not sure why. I think part of it is because all three of my main classes revolve around a PowerPoint presentation as the primary means of "teaching" - a method which hasn't helped me at all. But, as the title suggests, at least the uselessness of this class gives me some time to sit down and post.

So, I guess I'll move on to the most interesting point of the day. For those who don't know, I go to Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ (Shadow, I'll get into more detail to answer your questions in a bit). The school is directly on the Hudson River and as such, has a fantastic view of New York City. Now, I didn't see this in person but a friend of mine sent me a link to a news article this morning about a whale in the Hudson. Evidently, a humpback whale found its way into the river which must have been quite the sight. I'm assuming it's long gone because it was moving when it was spotted but it's still a pretty interesting event.

Other than that, I'm just glad that I don't have class tomorrow. Even though I only have one class on Fridays, it's at 9 AM and I'll enjoy being able to sleep a little more. Plus, three-day weekends are always nice ^_^ To kick off this short break, a few friends and I are going to Medieval Times tonight. We found some half price admission (with purchase of a full price ticket) tickets in Burger King so all four of us are getting in for half price. That's pretty much the entire reason we're going but it should be fun all the same.

So, I just looked up at the board and noticed a triple integral... I'm really hoping that's just there for demonstration purposes and we are in fact learning the shortcut. I highly doubt that though.

Anyway, I guess that's about it for my day. Time for comments.

Molly:
Hehe, well I'm glad my lack of activity serves a purpose for someone. And yeah, I'd definitely say you keep up to date just fine, though I feel like I've missed a bunch of stuff over time so I'll likely be reading through your posts as well :)

Crystia:
It was the opposite for me. Granted, I had become a bit less active even when myO was still up and running in full but I drifted off even more when Worlds was released. That's not to say that I have anything against this system - I actually do like it. I think it's mainly school that's been getting in the way for me. It's good to be somewhat back though.

red:
I went and read the entire TwoFacedLullaby story which was pretty interesting, though it did end a bit disappointingly. As for WoW, my Human Paladin is just about to 79 and the Human DK on the same server was 60 last time I played him. My only other two characters are a level 20 Blood Elf priest and another newly created Blood Elf DK on the same server so I could see the story from the Horde side. And of course I went to New York - after all, it was just a 5 minute Path ride away ^_^ There were a bunch of midnights in the city but this Best Buy was one of the official ones. I believe there were three others in the US and two in other countries.

Shadow:
It's great to see you again. It really has been a while. I hope you're doing well too =) And of course I'll answer your questions! I am indeed in college and I'm majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Unless something goes horribly wrong, I should be finishing my sophomore year this month (with finals stretching into May). It's hard, especially when you're not really learning what you need to, but it will be worth it in the end.

Another Attempt at a Return

Wow, I really need to start doing things here again. I don't know why I seem to regularly forget about the existence of this site and the Worlds feature in particular. I definitely don't want to lose touch with the friends I've made here but I guess that's going to be rather difficult if I disappear in the process...

So, let's see... what's happened since October of last year? Lots but I guess I'll cover the major points for now. We'll start with November. For any World of Warcraft fans, I'm sure you know that Wrath of the Lich King was released last year. A couple of friends and I went to the New York midnight release (the official one, run by Blizzard) and to make an exceedingly long story short, I was the first in line and took part in the official launch of the game (in addition to getting my signed copy of the collectors edition, among other things, for free ^_^). So yeah, that was a fun and rather large event. If anyone is actually interested in the full story, I can post it eventually or you can look it up on Google.

Following November, I can't say anything of that proportion happened. There was winter break, where I continued my security job. And then the start of my fourth semester at Stevens which is the opposite of exciting.

In news not directly related to me though, last month I went with my friend and his band (And Then There Were Machines) to the recording studio which was pretty interesting. I believe they're finishing their recordings this Friday and then all that's left is mastering. From what I've heard so far, it sounds good.

You'd think after 6 months, I'd have more to say but I'm drawing a blank at this point. That's mostly related to the fact that not much of interest happens here but oh well. I'll be attempting to get around to sites today and maybe get back into some regular pattern of visiting. Though if my only consistent pattern so far holds, I can't make any promises.

Maybe some questions would spark more frequent posts. Does anyone have anything on their mind?

All:
Since it's been six months, I don't think direct comment replies have much relevance anymore. Sorry. I'll reply if you really want though ^_^

Design Lab is Boring

Hey everyone. I'm currently in Design Lab but our professor has a way of talking for hours on end so I figured I'd make good use of the time and visit here instead.

Right now, he's discussing the grading criteria for last week's lab but he already discussed it directly with me so I don't really need to pay attention at the moment. Most of this class involves sitting here doing nothing anyway though which sucks. We could easily be out of here in 20 minutes but he seems to go out of his way to talk for 2 hours so we can't leave...

Anyway, I'll spare you the rest of the boring details and switch to something interesting. My brother was selected to be in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade playing the trumpet. Today, I'll be recording him so we can send it in for placement (the goal being that he'll get first trumpet). So, the rest of the day should be sort of interesting.

Other than that, I can't really think of much else to say. I guess part of it is because I'm a little distracted (so I'm sorry if this post was a little incoherent - I ended up writing sentences in fragments since I am half paying attention, just in case). So, thanks for reading and have a great day!

Dagger:
Yeah, 19 credits is a bit much but it's what the course outline required unfortunately. And that doesn't even include PE, which I'll have to start taking next semester. I'm sort of looking forward to PE though since I'll be taking archery one semester and then two semesters of sailing later.

New York Anime Festival

Hey everyone! It's been far too long since I actually sat down and wrote a post. Every time I see the site, I always tell myself that I'm going to start being a lot more active here (both posting and visiting) but school has a marvelous way of interfering with that plan. I'll definitely still try though.

So, I guess the main point of this post will be dedicated to NYAF. I found out about it at Comic-Con in June and had been looking forward to it for a while. I can safely say that I wasn't disappointed. I finally had a chance to meet Adam in person which was an unexpected treat. He had a nice panel about how to become famous online which I'm glad I didn't miss.

I'd also like to congratulate ElvesAteMyRamen on her wonderful panel on coloring your artwork. It's great to see a member of this site go so far with her art (and she certainly deserves it)!

The other highlight of the trip was definitely meeting Voltaire and seeing him play live. I've been a fan of his music for a while now (I guess since that episode of Billy and Mandy with the giant brain that comes from space and eats everyone else's' brains - that was his song) so finally getting a chance to see him play was great.

Now, in non-convention related news, we have school. As mentioned before, school is pretty much eating all of my time. I guess that's to be expected though since I have 19 credits this semester. I guess it could be worse though so I won't complain just yet.

Anyway, it's time to make good on my promise and get around to all of your sites. I'm sorry I haven't visited in so long and I'm sure I've missed quite a bit but that just means I'll have something to read when I'm bored ^_^ Thanks to those of you who are still reading this though and have a great day!

Finally, some long overdue comments:

Molly:
The zoo definitely was the highlight of my working over the summer. There was just something about being able to roam around with nobody else there and look at the animals doing whatever it is they do at night that was fun. Being able to sit back, play games, and watch TV while at work didn't hurt either ^_^

PhoenixClawth:
The budgies at the zoo were essentially the same except that you got seed sticks instead of nectar. I can't say I've ever had one nibble on my earring (though that's really because I don't have one to begin with).

Finally, a Chance to Visit!

Hey everyone. I'm now on my fifth day of 15 overnights at the zoo for work. My hours for these three works change from 3-11 to 11-7. This actually works out pretty nicely though. I get to see people who I haven't really gotten a chance to hang out with this summer between when I wake up and go to work. The shift itself is also pretty easy since I have a lot of free time.

This is also good news for me concerning this site now that I finally seem to have an internet connection working reliably through my phone. With a good five hours to kill, I can finally start making regular rounds again - something I've missed doing for a while. The connection isn't the fastest so the sites will likely take a little while to load but with so much free time, I don't think that will be a problem.

Anyway, in other news, well, I guess I don't really have any. Work has been keeping me really busy so not much else has been going on. I guess I'll just move to comments and then get on to finally visiting your sites again. Thanks for reading and have a great night/day!

Molly:
Heh, then you'd really like my current shift. I pretty much get the entire zoo to myself all night. You should definitely come visit.

PhoenixClawth:
Yeah, the budgies are definitely fun. I had like 11 of them on me at once the other day.
