Let's Get it going

“Why is this school so active with paranormal activity?” Ryuu questioned, coming to stand next to me.

“I have no idea.” Aisling sighed. “But I’m exhausted. Can we call it a night?” Everyone looked exhausted, not just Aisling. Even I was starting to wear down. I sighed.

“Well it’s up to Emiko, considering she’s the one that’s driving,” Ryuu mentioned, and they both looked at me expectantly. As if I'd say no. “How about it? We could all crash at my house for the night,” Ryuu offered. “You two are welcome to come too.” He looked at Ariana and Christian.

They seemed as though they wanted to decline, but they slowly accepted. "Great," I beamed, "Let's get going. The sooner we get to Ryuu's place, the sooner we can all crash for the night!" I said, heading for the door.

Everyone piled into the van, and we headed down the road and turned onto the highway. I hadn't talked to Elle in a long time and decided to call her, to make sure she's ok. Flipping open my phone, I quickly pressed her speed dial.

She answered on the third ring, "Hello?"

"Elle," I sighed, glad she was ok. "Where are you? We've kind of lost touch for awhile."

"I'm at Ame's, remember? I'm spending the night here with her," she replied. "A little sleepover."

I smiled to myself. "Why does that not surprise me?" I said sarcastically. "Though, I didn't imagine Ame doing sleepovers. But, I just wanted to make sure you were ok. We'll all be over at Ryuu's if you decide you want to drop by."

"Sounds good. Hey, did you guys all go back to the school building?" she asked me suddenly.

I frowned. "Did you have another vision?" I asked, putting the pieces together.

"Yeah, I just some of the group exercising the demons. It wasn't anything real big," she replied.

"Oh, ya. That's basically what went down," I nodded. "But, I'm at Ryuu's now. You have fun with Ame."

"Will do. Bye," she said.

I smiled, putting the phone on the dash. I glanced over at Ryuu who was sitting in the passenger seat. "What?" I asked, curious as to why he was smiling like that.

He shrugged. "Nothing, it's just that a little while ago, you and Elle could hardly be in the same room together without someone trying to kill the other, and now you guys seem really close."

I pulled into Ryuu's driveway, putting the van into park, and killing the engine. "We aren't close. It's my job as her cousin to watch over her," I covered. Everyone piled out of the van and made their way into the house. I circled the van, grabbing Ryuu's hand, and we walked into the house together. "But, I do enjoy not fighting with her," I admitted.

"Pretty soon, you two will be having sleepovers together, braiding each others' hair, that sort of thing," he teased with a grin.

I shook my head at the absurdity of the idea. But, if Elle and I could become that close, it would be very nice. We could be a family.
