And here is when I squeal...

Ok, as mentioned in my previous post, I am highly addicted to this webtoon called "Trace." Well since Trace updates practically every other day (how awesome is THAT?!), I thought I'd share with you what's been happening so far.

Ok, so so far in this section, Jin is still keeping his promise of protecting Rose. However, he begins to notice that he gets this funny feeling whenever around her. Doesn't take much of a supergenius to figure out what this 'feeling' is, but for Jin it does. He ends up getting angry at Rose and yells at her, leading her to finally pop the question: she asks him if he likes her because she likes him. His reaction? He kicks her out. He tells her he's canceling the contract and he'll return the money, etc, etc. Rose tells him to keep the money, thanks him for protecting her up till now, and runs off in tears.

So the next day, Jin is all gloomy and emo. So Anchovy, being the observant one, basically tells Jin to go get Rose back. Of course, Jin protests at first, but naturally, accepts the fact that he has fallen for her and goes in search of her.

But this is where trouble hits. He can't find Rose. Fearing that Lemon (the guy who is after her) has already killed her, Jin enters a state of panic and begins to search frantically, screaming out her name. He then gets a call from Rose and she is crying, telling him that she is scared because she thinks Lemon is here. Jin tells her to stop crying, guesses she's at the Showcase, and runs for it.

There, Jin meets up with Lemon who successfully knocks him to the ground. After some taunting, Lemon simply leaves, telling Jin that rather than concern himself with him, Jin ought to go look for Rose. Fearing the worst, Jin runs inside, only to see Rose curled up against the wall, shaking in fear.

Relieved that she is still alive, Jin holds her and promises to protect her once again. The couple return back home, and Anchovy opens the door to see them holding hands. Cue grin the size of Texas. While Jin is obviously embarrassed about this, Rose is as cool as a cucumber (seriously. She sees Anchovy and goes "Wassap?")

That night, Anchovy offers to let the couple sleep by themselves (hint hint <3), but Jin rebuked him, calling him an idiot. Jin tells Rose to sleep on the bed that night rather than on the floor, his reason being that he "always liked to sleep on the floor."

So the days roll by, and according to Jin, each day he spent with her was pure bliss. He is obviously overly protective of her-for example, when Rose is getting a haircut, he stands right by her telling her to tell him if she feels any pain because you never know when the hairstylist will attack. Gotta fear them ladies with scissors >>;;;

Soon it is the final day-and here is when I squealed like a fangirl. Rose wakes up and sees Jin standing by her bed. She asks him "I thought you were going to talk to the Boss today?" Jin turns to her and says:

"If you are a rose, you need a stem. I will be the stem that protects you."

I'm sorry, I know it's as cheesy as hell and I know it is probably up there on the Top 10 Most Corniest One Liners in History, but still! The fact that Jin said it-Jin, the unemotional, seclusive, shoots people with his fingers Jin-just....it was so...cute. For lack of a better word.

And that is where the update ends. Now, as for my predictions, I know Rose is going to die. In some fashion or another, may it be Lemon actually getting her, her deciding she's too much of a burden and killing herself, slip down the stairs, whatever-I know she is gonna die. It's written in a way that it's so obvious. But yea. I think this section of Trace is by far my favorite.

So once again, if you haven't done so already-READ TRACE!

WebComic that is pre-tty snazzy

Okies, so as most of you have probably figured out, I'm an anime/manga sort of chick. I usually don't read many webcomics simply because I either a) don't know about them, or b) can't be buggered to read 'em.

But as with all cases, there are exceptions. For me, it's Trace. Trace is this Korean webcomic that I once stumbled across on mangafox and I must say-I LOVE it. Seriously. It's one of them psychological/holy crap I so saw that coming but still HOLY CRAP kinda stories.

Basically, the plot takes place in South Korea and there are two types of beings: your average Joe, and beings called "Troubles." These "Troubles" are essentially the monster of the story. They attack humans, cause the world to go into chaos, the usual. And as with any good monster-eats-human story, you need to have the ones who can defeat them. Here is where the Traces come in. “Traces” are, in a nutshell, mutants. They are humans who have gained supernatural abilities, ranging from super speed/strength to firing bullets from their fingers. It may seem that these Traces are the allies of justice, but that is not always the case. Some Traces exploit their powers, the overall result being that Traces are shunned from society, regardless of the good they may do.

There are two main plots that make up the webcomic. The first one revolves around a boy named Sa Ghang Gwon who was born as a Trace, and was therefore abandoned by his parents. After being taken in by a young girl and her father he tries to live a life of a normal human, hiding his true self from both of his caretakers. This works for a while up until he hits high school where his secret is found and Sa Ghang Gwon is forced to leave the family and home he found.

The second story revolves around the man Kim Yun Seong, your average married man. Living a happy life with his loving wife and daughter, all was well for Seong. That is, until he began to turn into a Trace. His wife and daughter are then taken away from him and end up being use as experiments. This tale follows him trying to seek his revenge as well as his running into several other fellow Traces, eventually forming the group K4.

Of course there is much more to the webcomic than these two-these are just the main plots. Surrounding each one is a subplot that is just as intricate and gripping as the mother-plots. Overall, this is a webcomic that really grasps me by the heart. Unlike most mangas that I read, there isn’t anything sappy or cheesy-yet it’s not totally psychotic. It has moments where you feel for the characters, yet has moments that make you go “WTF mate?” So if you’re in a serious mood, but you don’t want any clichéd moments or the annoying damsel in distress, then I highly recommend this. Another bonus is that it is ALL IN COLOR ^.^ However, this is a webcomic, so make sure you scroll all the way down to the end of the page. But seriously-this is epic. I can only pray that somehow it gets turned into an anime. It would probably fall under the same level of epicness as Code Geass for me. And if anyone knows me, they know I consider Code Geass to be my favorite anime of all time. So for me to say that Trace is just as good means something. So go. Now. Read. What the hell are you doing here?! GO!!

Till next time~

The Bi-atch ain't so bad after all...

One of the mangas that I am currently reading (and absolutely ADORE) is Hana to Akuma. This manga satisfies the shojou-fan in me. Basically, for those of you who do not know, this story revolves around Demon Vivi and the human girl Hana. Vivi was originally from the Underworld but, as most demons nowadays, got bored and so traveled up to Earth (towing his poor butler with him). He then lived in Earth quietly when all of a sudden, one day an unexpected package was dropped off at his front door. This “package” was a baby girl. Vivi (who was still bored as hell) figured that this human could very well prove to be entertaining and therefore, took her in. She was given the name ‘Hana’ because her smile was like that of a flower. 14 years speed by and Hana is still living with Vivi, her feelings for him turning into love, though it takes her a long time to realize this (same can be said to Vivi -_-).

The most current chapter (chap 45) had me squealing a la fangirl, yet also feeling somewhat sad for one of the characters. One character who has been added to many Hana x Vivi fan’s hit list is Rosemary, Vivi’s fiancé from the Underworld. She is stuck up, greedy, and only wishes to marry Vivi for status. Or so it appears. Up until now, most readers felt that Rosemary was nothing but a gold digger. However, it has been shown that despite her brashness, and lust for power, Rosemary does indeed hold feelings of love for Vivi. As it turns out, Rosemary’s family had been dishonored and so it was up to her as a child to regain the family’s honor. So young Rosemary studied harder than any other demon child, hoping to make her father happy. Yet she forever placed second on school exams, Vivi constantly outdoing her. Yet despite holding the top two positions in the school, Vivi never knew who Rosemary was-he simply was not interested in her. Rosemary took this as Vivi being cocky and so strove harder to beat him, and eventually this mission became one to make Vivi look at her. And one day he did. But not under her conditions.

The first time Vivi laid eyes on Rosemary was when the two were introduced to be engaged. Enraged at the fact that the first time Vivi looked at her was because of her family, Rosemary began to loathe him…as well as begin to love him.

In this chapter, Vivi breaks off his engagement with Rosemary, his reason being that “Hana cried and asked [him] not to.” Despite her efforts to stop him from leaving, telling Vivi that she is aiming to marry the Demon King (as Vivi is said to be the next candidate to succeed the current Demon King-who kicks ass, btw), Vivi still leaves her and heads to look for Hana, who snuck into the Demon World to prevent Vivi from marrying Rosemary-an agreement that Vivi made with the Demon King in order to protect Hana.

So yea. This chapter kinda made us anti-Rosemary fans feel a bit sorry for her. She wasn’t as pig headed and self-serving as we all thought she was. Her feelings for Vivi are actually genuine. Poor chick. Ah well, despite this I am still a hardcore Vivi x Hana fan-they are just too CUTE~~ (insert fan squeal here).

So now the question lies: what will happen to Hana and Vivi now that Vivi has broken off the engagement? How will Mr. Smexy Demon King react? I doubt he is gonna let this slide easily-plus he enjoys tormenting Vivi! Odds are he will have some fun before the pair head off on their merry way. As for Rosemary, I can only hope that she finds someone who loves her dearly. Maybe that annoying cat-fanatic of a demon…those two would make a good match, seeing they both “hate” Vivi. *Shrugs* I dunno. Well, that’s my first review for this world. Till next time

Oh, and for those of you who wanna read Hana to Akuma from the beginning, here ya go: http://www.mangafox.com/manga/hana_to_akuma/

A small hello

Hello to all you beautiful people out there~

Name’s GDChans. Or just plain ol’ GD. Whichever floats your boat. Some of you may know me as that chick who makes wallpapers when she should be studying, or as that girl who posts random CG crap on the world “Black Prince” (and yes, I have not forgotten about it, I will update it shortly). But since Code Geass has come to an end for quite some time now, I figured I might as well create a world where I can write about…well, about anything really. So here is this world. As the titles suggests, this world will be filled with my random drabbles, whether it be me venting out the woes that is my broke college life, or the epicness of some anime and/or manga. So come back often for updates, and by all means-if you have a suggestion for me (ie: an anime/manga I should look into, stuff I should work on, etc) drop me a note! I like hearing feedback! Makes me think I’m not talking to myself, y’know?

So yea. For those who have absolutely no idea who I am, here’s a brief intro: I’m your typical otaku. Been so since…oh jeeze I don’t know. Eons. Lets leave it at that. I am a bonafide broke college student whose dream job would force her to mooch off of her daddy for the rest of her life due to the crap wage she would get (the dream job? To be an anime/manga critic and write reviews for an anime magazine. Pity they discontinued my favorite anime magazine: NewType USA). I have one older sister who is the shit (DGChans here, but she’s hardly on) and a daddy. Mama-dearest passed away a little over three years ago, so I’ve gotten used to looking after myself. Hobbies include (apart from the obvious anime/manga): drawing, putzing with photoshop, writing, cooking, fooling around with my sister, talking with friends on the phone for hours on end about absolutely nothing, and reading.

So that’s about it for a brief intro. I will try to keep this world updated and hopefully in return, you guys can give me some love, eh? Till next time~
