The Summoner

The three headed back to the village. Their conversation started to drift to the ceremony.

"I hear a new summoner is supposed to reside over it", said Narvel.

“Really, I wonder what her name is”, commented Lian.

“How do you know it’s a she?” Sion retorted.

“I just know.”

They came to the entrance of the village and saw that many priests, priestesses, and minor priests were preparing for the ceremony.

“Take the holy water to the stand”, commanded a priestess.

“Yes, mistress”, replies a minor priest.

“The Book of Incantations goes on the pedestal, near the red rug.”

The entire din from the preparations caused no one to notice the trio exit the woods.

“SHE’S HERE!!!!!!!” Someone yelled from afar.

“Presenting Summoner Adela”, a guard announced for all to hear.

The two orphans ran and hid in a bush with Narvel traveling behind them.

“What’s a summoner again?” Lian asked.

“She is the one that presides over the exorcism; she brings the trapped creatures out of things and allows them to fight at her side”, Sion answered.

“Cool.”

They watched as the young woman stepped out of the horse drawn carriage that she came in. She wore blue mage robes and held an oak staff with eyes as blue as a lagoo. So blue they looked like marbles. And hair so brown it looked like the angels wings that were gold, turned stained for brunetter. Making in the angel more lovlier than it was before.

“Are the preparations ready yet?” Adela asked in a loving voice to a minor priest.

“Yes, summoner.”

“Thank you.”

She stepped up to a pedestal with a two altar torches on either side.

“You will rest in peace, soon”, she cried to the people.

She took the holy water from the altar on the left, lifted it on her head and threw it at the other altar. The altar on the right became ablaze.

“The ceremony will probably last for three days”, explained Narvel.

“I’d like to see it in its entirety”, Sion requested.

“We shall see…”, replied Narvel.
