I want the cosplay section returned. I loved looking through those galleries. It was so much fun.

Hmm... Definitely the news.

Because that's one of the first things I used to check when I got on the old Otaku and I miss that. Plus it helps with the Podcasts and makes it easier for them, I think.

I would love to see the news back on, please!

Screens and Scans

Fuel for both wallpapers and fanart.

I vote for the Avatars one, since I'm not too interested in the others. I make avvies and would love a section for them ^^ Maybe News or Screens and scans, but the latter would be quite difficult to moderate and there would be a lot of people ripping scans from other sites.

It's hard, but I think I'll have to go with news. Why? Well, it's an easier way to learn about more anime and video games out there.

Hmmmmmmm...Tough Choic you guys! I'd like avatars, but we can post those on our worlds. I'm going with COSPLAY! I'm gonna be cosplaying a whole lot more now that I've gotten into it. I miss the old section, but VV might bring something new to the table! BRING FORTH TEHCOSPLAY!!

I guess this world has been adapted as the official news section but I think we should have a section for it. Plus I miss it, that's the one thing I'd bring back from the post-Version Vibrant TheOtaku.

News, definitely, because I never check Anime News Network, but I check this website at least three times a day. I wanna know about the stuff going on in the anime world! XD

That's not exactly an easy decision since I see several that would be fun to add to the site. Lets see...

Cosplay would be fun since that just sounds like so much fun, to see the costumes that others make for attending conventions. I know I'd find that interesting.

News would also be fun too. So I wouldn't mind seeing that one.

Avatars sounds nice but in all honesty it's easy to run around online and find them. I'm sure they'd be fun, I just think news and cosplay would be better to add first.

Conversations are something that seem like they suit OtakuBoards better. So wouldn't you be competing with your own sister site? That seems more counter productive and a headache for the moderators to actual keep track of in my opinion.

Screens and Scans worry me on account of copyright issues. So though I think it would be nifty, I'd steer clear of that one.

Arcade games would hardly get updated so I don't really see that as a choice. It's something that would be fun, but I'd be curious to know if you have a lot of members who would even make them.

So in the end, I'd say add news to the front page. ^_^ If not news, then cosplay. That's what I think.

I'm going with News. It's one of the reasons why the previous theOtaku was so cool. Plus, as much as Anime News Network has been able to provide tons of anime news, something tells me that in a few occassions theOtaku was able to report something that ANN never got to report.

mmm...I'd like to see a cosplay section. Seeing people have their fashion sense be taken over by the wardrobe of the characters they love is always enjoyable to see.

A definitely. I loved seeing everyone's cosplays. I've always wanted to put up my pictures, but my cosplays weren't that great at the time. Now I think I have enough confidence to submit them ^.^;

After serious thought I would vote A.

I was considering E might be nice to have but might detract from the fan stuff we already have XD I would like cosplays back because they are fun to post to show up and good to browse for those who would like to get ideas for their dress ups!

Okay, so, I would totally vote for an Arcade if it would be populated by original, user-created games like Adam's. I would even volunteer to be a play tester. But I get the feeling it would see, like, two submission a year since making decent flash games that aren't ripped off from something else isn't easy.

I already get most news from ANN. I even have their RSS feed up on my Google homepage so I see new headlines as soon as they go up. So, simply reporting on the same stuff that they do would be boring for me. But I liked the articles about the odd and quirky stuff that we used to have, that didn't make it onto ANN; if we do more of that, then News gets my vote.

We need something like it, it helps boost creativity. because you have to make an imaget hat looks good in 100x100 pixels.

I've never thought highly of cosplays in theOtaku. I mean no offense, but the good ones are hard to find. Just my opinion though, I'm not a cosplayer myself.

Screencaps and scans are a little redundant as reference materials are just about everywhere. You said so yourself, that these are common in other websites. And like some people said, I'd rather not risk breaching copyright laws.

An avatar section sounds like a good idea, but avatars are everywhere too. I like the variety of avatars members display here and I believe they're pretty resourceful so such a thing may not be needed. Not to mention some people may end up stealing avatars from other sites and submit them as their own. I think the mods have many such cases to handle in the fanart section already, give them a break.

I won't go for comment threads. OtakuBoards exists for a purpose.

So, after the elimination, I think a news section would win my vote :) I never visit ANN or other sites for news so it'll be a good for me if I happen to stumble upon an interesting article here while I'm browsing.

Damn, a lot of votes for avatars. Not really sure why, people seem to be doing quite well on their own without an avatar section...

I think the best would be either the arcade or the avatars, but the cosplay should be resurrected.

I would look the cosplay section to come back that was always my favorite part of theO.

Gosh! I can't choose!! E.Sceenshots would be really handy for resources and the like....but if the News included information on manga releases as well as anime and games...i'd choose it without a doubt. So i guess i'll vote for News. Since initially that was all i used the site for, of course in don't think that now!
But there are other good sections too Oh well. And the references would be oh so handy...since it's hard to find trustworthy sites. But i have a few, so i can probably manage without it. Even if it would be nice.

It'd be nice to see the cosplay section back, but my vote goes to screens and scans. It's hard to find good reference pictures on Google images, what with all the cosplay and other (more disturbing) images. Us aspiring artists need a way to get a hold of some good, clean reference pictures!

I saw the other categories before I laid eyes upon B. And without a doubt, I vote for the return of News. I feel as if VV lacks something without having a news page, and would be very glad upon seeing its return.

I'd go for the cosplay section, because it's always fun to see what anime characters would look like in reality and how close fans can get to the look. :)

If I was to choose any out of the above, it'd be Cos-Play. Why? Well, think about it... You can go anywhere to find news and I am sure that a lot of members already have their regular haunts where they gain this info already. So... I doubt anyone here will be able to tell them anything diferent from what they will already know. (Especially if you are obsessed. :P )

Avatars would have been my next choice, as I think it's a nice idea for folks to be able to post avatars without having to stick big, ugly borders on them to make up the size limit.

Conversations are an interesting idea, but won't that just mean extra jobs for moderators? After all, imagine some of the things people will post. :P

Screencaps and whatnot are a touchy subject. Copyright law and so forth. Yes, yes, I know I'm going on about it again, but you have to be careful. Plenty of sites have been shut down, because they chucked screen caps up and the people (Companies) involved weren't happy. If you could somehow work out a way of doing it without pissing them off and keeping to copyright law, then this would be my third choice.

Cos-play is something a lot of people enjoy doing and, most often than not, they spend a lot of money doing so. I think it'd be nice to be able to display pics when one has worked hard on one's costumes. ;)
And I think an Arcade might take away from the site's original intent.

We've had the BNR to fill in the gap left open, but it's probably time we had a more prominent news section again. Perhaps we can merge the BNR into the overall site more?

News, for sure. It was always such a major feature of theOtaku and when it disappeared it felt like an important part of the site disappeared.

Aww... that's difficult beans to digest. I would most likely vote for Avatars, only because the lot of them are cluttering up my hard drive with no real purpose but to sit there and laugh at me.

i don't know... it's hard to choose... although I don't cosplay, I'd vote on the cosplay section returned with a V V flavor. I think it's an otaku thing... *shrugs*
