Yeah, so that plot twist never gets any less depressing/horrifying, no matter what medium you see it in.

This one was interesting to watch, because there wasn't really a big difference in the end result, but the execution/circumstances were totally separate. For one, it took place a few years earlier in the first series, I think, and there was a lot more of an effort made to make the brothers close to Nina. This episode was pretty much exactly how they did it in the manga, though, and both versions break my heart equally.

Well, almost exactly. They took out Al's "If you keep talking, I'll shut you up myself" moment before he goes to apologize to Nina, which broke me out of my horror for two seconds to go AWWWWW YEAH when I first read it. This is what I am talking about, guys. I like that combination of being genuinely nice and decent and being totally capable of cutting a bitch.

I totally approve of Hughes getting shoehorned into like every episode. I also approved of the brief Basque Gran appearance, because manga!Gran gave me another one of those AWWW YEAH moments in the midst of the depressing that is the Ishbal flashback chapters. ("Twenty percent of officers are being killed by their subordinates," indeed.)

And SCAR! Oh Scar. I remember being totally outraged the first time I read that scene, but after a while you can't be angry at Scar for killing people anymore, because at the very least, Scar is The-Crazy-You-Know. As opposed to characters like Pride, who are The-Crazy-Who-Will-Eat-You-From-The-Shadows. So yeah. THERE GOES SCAR AGAIN. TALKING TO GOD. IN THE RAIIIIIN.

In conclusion, one of the biggest tear-jerker moments in the series done oh-so-very-well once again.

Also, HAVOC THERE YOU ARE <3
