My film class probably thinks I'm violent now

... wow, I can't say I've ever had so many people try to tell me that I'm wrong about something I'm completely right about before.

For those of you unaware, lots of Catholic churches, especially ones in heavily Irish-American areas, have celebrations for St. Patrick's Day. However, since this week is the week leading up to Easter, the Pope asked that these churches move their services to the previous Saturday.

Many people have taken this to mean that St. Patrick's Day, itself, was moved.

St. Patrick's Day has always been March 17th, and seeing as I grew up in a very large, very proud Irish-American family, I know this well. Pop's birthday is the 15th, Dad's birthday is the 16th, and St. Patrick's Day is the 17th; we'd have a joint party, and then go to the parade. We really don't have too many other cultural things to enjoy, aside from pubs, so it's always been big in my family.

Hell, my last name is "Mahoney" and I've got the red hair-blue eyes-pale skin-freckles combo, people sometimes treat me like I just got off the boat. XD And yet, four people tried to start an argument with me and tell me it was the 15th because the Pope said so. AND NONE OF THEM WERE IRISH. (These people approached me, by the way, because I was wearing my green Ireland shirt.)

I was mostly annoyed for a while. Then, in Fraleigh's class, this loudmouthed, arrogant kid named Taylor started in on it in his self-important voice, and I explained it to him a bit more snappishly than I did to the others. And when he started to counter me, I pointed at myself and said, "Look at who you're talking to."

Apparently, after I turned around, Taylor took a crucifix necklace out of his shirt and started massaging it. XD And I'm pretty sure everyone in the class thinks I'm insane now. But damn, did it feel good.
