The rains cometh.

So for those of you who I haven't told yet, Tropical Storm Fay is going to kick my ass tomorrow morning. Afternoon. Evening. I'm not exactly sure when it's getting here (it's quite the slow storm), but it's coming, for sure. I would say "Ask my good friend Timechaser," but he is currently underwater.

I'm not sure what to expect from this one, other than the fact that it won't be as bad as it was initially going to be. It was actually going to strengthen into a hurricane and plow right into St. Augustine, the city directly south of me, and from there, move up to my city, Jacksonville. I was kind of concerned about ending up in the eye.

(Fun hurricane fact: the eye of a hurricane is surrounded by something called the "wall," a near-complete ring of strong thunderstorm cells and the strongest winds of the storm. Best part of the wall? You get to experience it on each sides of the eye, with the winds blowing in opposite directions. It's a fascinating natural phenomenon that I hope to never experience.)

Anyways, the storm didn't become a hurricane, and is making landfall further south of me, so I'll only have to deal with the bands. Granted, "dealing with the bands" includes possible fallen trees and flooding and the risk of tornadoes trailing around the band, but that? That, I've done before. Thrice, actually!

Which is to say, it'll all be good. But I don't know how long I'll be without power - the wiring on my street kind of sucks. So if you don't see me until Sunday when I head back to Boston, I am alive and still love you. So if I don't get to make a post on the Writers Bloc tomorrow, I'm really sorry, but I'll try to before anything dies. I'm traveling on Sunday morning, so the prompts will be late, but they'll be there.

(And if you're at all curious, this is my dear friend Fay. Note that tourists hoping to go to Disneyworld are screwed. And scroll up a bit if you want to see Jacksonville about to get nailed in the face.)

Wish me luck!
