Hello, everyone!

You have reached the rambling, the fangirling, and the general chill-pad of theOtaku's NightBeck, a.k.a Becky, a.k.a Crimson Lotus the Irish Ninja.

... okay, maybe not the last one. But people will be calling me that one day.

This is your place to chill, talk about life and fandom, and be generally crazy. So go on. Play nice, be good to each other, don't make me hurt you.

My favorite series: Princess Tutu, Ookiku Furikabutte, Mushishi, xxxHOLiC, Monster, Black Lagoon, Ergo Proxy, Escaflowne, and Baccano!

My writing: Cafe Cliche

If you wish to post this in your journal, it's been requested that you title it "I'm Afraid of _ Out of 72 Common Fears".

If you get more than 30, I strongly recommend some counseling
If you get more than 20, you’re paranoid.
If you get 10-20, you are normal.
If you get 10 or less, you’re fearless.
People who don’t have any are liars.

Yay for being normal!

A great way to start your day

So I began my morning with an agent telling me that my main characters are bland.

Yeaahhhhhhh.

If I don't have any luck with these last submissions and queries, it's pretty much over for this book, guys. Not because I'm quitting, but because there really aren't a lot of other agents I can send queries to. I still love the story and the characters, but I think it would have to be a completely different book in order to get anywhere. And if all fifty-something agents who have rejected me felt that way thus far, I'm really not too optimistic about anyone else feeling differently.

Thanks for all your support regardless of what happens. ♥

July: not too shabby so far!

I was offered a job last week! Provided that the face-to-face meeting later this month goes well, I'll be moving to Washington D.C to work in the Japanese embassy in late August, as an Administrative Assistant to the diplomats! I was not expecting to find something so soon, so I'm feeling apprehensive and excited all at once. :O

My agent search has also taken a slight upturn recently, but as there's nothing concrete to share yet, I will keep my mouth shut. Stay tuned!

She's up, then she's down.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, y'all! I'm too tired to write a proper post, but I thought I'd mention what I've been up to lately: mostly job hunting and agent hunting.

Thus the post title. When something good happens in one of those ventures, something negative happens in another! This weekend, for example, I had four agents looking at my book. Then today, I had a great interview for one job and was contacted to schedule an interview for another, but then I was also rejected by two of the four agents without any helpful feedback. ;; My head is sort of spinning.

On a positive note, though, both jobs I'm interviewing for are jobs in the Japanese embassy in the capital. So I may be moving to D.C at the end of the summer if all goes well! I had hoped to go back to Boston or give Seattle or San Francisco a try, but I hear there are some cute neighborhoods outside the district, and it would be neat to work in such a historic place. Fingers crossed!

Panic mode in 3... 2... 1...

Oh wait I think I'm too tired to panic.

Anyway.

I GRADUATE TOMORROW.
