Revenge on the Rocks

Grandpa, how you've aged.

So, if I were to take the scene as is, I am being lead to believe that good old gramps was the first to really delve in the dark arcane and the dutiful son killed him and used that dark energy to start his own studies. What love. It just tears at my heart strings. And what of the grandson you might ask. Well, after he opened the seal, he ran like a little baby out of the house. I guess these things skip a generation.

When I approached the alter the trapped soul of the dead dude started to go all monology on me. Like I really cared about his heart rending story. Probably the dumbest thing I heard was that he was regretting his actions and stuff. Kinda late for that.

We are all mad.

But, even after all that talk of regret, he was still a d-bag. For one thing, he tried to attack me. Now, I know decades of being used as an unholy sacrifice in necromancy rituals can make a guy vengeful, but why attack me who had nothing to do with it?

Okay, to be truthful, I really didn't care. Dispatching his lingering soul will only increase my tribute to my dear Night Mother and Lord Sithis. I used to wonder about whether or not you gain vast knowledge upon your death, but now I think I have a complete and unquestionable answer of "No". Cause if the dude had gain any knowledge, you'd think at the top of it would be that I can easily deal with the likes of him.

At least the dead can't chip my blade.

With the old guy thoroughly dispelled, the house seemed to have un-dilapidated itself. I will still have to hire a crew to refit and renovate, especially the basement, but the place was more livable than when I had bought it. I probably won't spend much time there even when it is done; I'll most likely rent it out and just cash in the dough. I already have three places I can call home and a whole sanctuary where I can crash is it is really needed.

All that was left was to get a refund. I hope the guy doesn't think he could just walk away from this and not expect me to have some more words about his sale. He wasn't at the bar when I finally got there, but the owner was more than willing to tell me when and where the guy left to. As much as the owner liked emptying the guy's pockets, he was no friend.

Did you really think it'd end any other way?

As far as my refund, I got it back with some interest and a nice pocket watch. I debated whether I should have hidden the body but figured that he had more than a few people who might have wanted to do the same.

With that out of the way, all that was left was to go back to my old home and finish the job I started before I went to jail. I can hardly wait.
