Thorn White

The First Fallen Snow

It was the first of December before the coming of the New Year and a child, skin white as the newly, untarnished snow, hair was as black as ebony, and eyes as blue as the pure blue sky was born on that very day.
His mother decided to call him, "Thorn White," for he was white as the rose thorn bush that was covered in snow. As Thorn White grew older, his mother began to grow ill, and his father, the king, did all he could to rescue his poor queen's life.
The King prayed to God for his beloved Queen, wife, and mother to his son to get better. "Dear Lord, please take my life but please spare my beloved's life," the King requested. As time went on, the Queen made a miraculous recovery, and the King praised God for sparing his Queen's life, "Thank you, Lord, you are so kind and loving," the King was grateful.
Many years had passed since then and when Thorn White was 10, King Ashton, his father, had left the kingdom in search of a rare flower, known as the Ethereal Blossom, to bring back for his beloved wife and heir; however, the King never returned, and Queen Alana assumed the worst that he had passed away in a terrible storm or so she feared.
So, the Queen remarried to a kindhearted man, or in her eyes she saw as much, to help her raise her son, the young prince, and heir to the throne. Thorn White was unsure about his new step-father, King Edmund, whether he was kind or not. All the prince knew was that the new king was a stranger to him.
