"Once you've met someone you never really forget them. It just takes a while for your memories to return."
~Zeniba, from Miyazaki's 'Spirited Away'

Love that, don't you? it's a beautiful notion that should be recognized more often.

well, hiya! i don't really know what to do with this "world" thing...and honestly, I don't particularly care if I'm doing it right at all. The icon said 'create world' so I'll do just that.

All right then, this is my domain now. I'll talk about the random and/or boring things that go on in my life, complete with my thoughts on them. Beware, you might happen upon a few rambling ideas and notions that you may or may not agree with. For now, I'll try to keep those to a minimum, but hey, it's actually quite fun. Try it some time.

soo...i guess I'll say a little bit about myself, just for old time's sake (aww, the old Otaku! so cute with it's info site and links!)

fact #1: I named myself after a character in the very first story I wrote. Sharael, aka Shar, is everything I wanted to be. Thus I'll live under her name, if only on this website.

fact#2: I LOVE anything Miyazaki. He's fantastic and brilliant and the absolute god of anime. You'll see me attempting to build a giant shrine/temple/castle in his honor one of these days. Just follow the trucks hauling tons of bricks and the clouds of smoke indicating they let me handle power tools.

fact#3: I am a helpless romantic at heart, and I dream CONSTANTLY! ah, it's insane! I just can't stop it! my brain is going to go on overload one of these days, mark my words.

fact#4: I love drawing, writing, running, reading, and staring at absolutely nothing. These are my five main hobbies. When my boyfriend drops by I tend to deviate ever so slightly, but the majority of my life revolves around these things.

And...yea, I think I'll leave it at that for now. Hope you enjoyed it! Cheerio, and all that jazz.

Zutara?

How tragic.

Everything seemed so perfect, I was sure it was going to happen. There they were, gazing at each other, she with tears in her eyes, he with incomparable gratitude and compassion in his. He had just sacrificed himself for her, and she had brought him back from the brink of death, what more can you ask for! Zuko and Katara, two people so different, yet so obviously destined for each other...

Or not, according to Avatar screenwriters.

Yes, the series finale of Nickelodeon's "Avatar: The Last Airbender" came and went without a trace of the fated Zuko and Katara pairing. To say that I was disappointed is a horrible understatement. I was furious, livid, grieved, and utterly stupefied. I took some solace in the Zutara hub on deviantart, yet it wasn't the same as having it actually happen right then and there on the screen in front of me. True, we Zutara fans were a bit daring in our presumptions, but in all honesty, we really thought that fateful kiss, that beautiful couple, would happen.

Some people (my sister, a diehard "Katara & Aang" fan, included) have asked me why I'm so bent on seeing Zuko and Katara together. The answer is unclear, even to me. I've always liked the odd couples, the ones who never seem to belong together, yet are so compatible it's as though they were made for each other. Such unions stand as proof that yes, there is a chance for a happy ending, even if prince charming isn't quite the man expected. I also want to believe that differences can be breached, prejudices can be forgotten, and even the worst of enemies can banish their hatred in favor of love and happiness. For me, Zuko and Katara stood for all those things. Their union would have meant an ultimate peace of two very different worlds (elements, if you will.) That, to me, is something that would have been a fantastic addition to an already supreme and excellent show. So go ahead and gloat all you want, Kataang fans. Deep down, you know that Zutara is the way the show was meant to be.

Only in Time

"Why Khayre?" she whispered into the darkness, her hands clenching around the smooth blue silk of her gown. She bowed her head and sighed deeply, the night air soft and damp. Fireflies danced around her, tiny points of fire that flicked throughout...
