it's been a long time

A lot has happened since I was last roaming these parts, and I truly have missed this place. I went back and read my last post, and it flooded back memories of lodging (and not necessarily pleasent ones). After the summer of war I spent with the vampires, it was a huge relief once school started back up. I'm still only a substitute teacher, but I have been building a lot of solid relationships with people in a couple of schools I really love, and I'm hoping they will pay off with anpermanent teaching position.

There was also a huge change at lodging. Most of my coworkers quit, due to the way management was treating them. And my mom. They really hurt her emotionally and mentally. It put a huge rift between us because I was still working weekends there, and she saw that as a betrayal, that I was chosing lodging over her. But I moved out of my parents house and into my own apartment this past spring, and I couldn't afford to quit lodging. As a sub I don't get paid during the summer, so I still kind of needed the lodging job (as much as I hate to admit that). Also me moving out was not what mom wanted. Despite the fight, she didn't want me to leave. I only moved about a 15 minute drive away, but to her that's hours. But things have gotten better between us, much better. The wounds are mostly healed over.

Mindy (my fluffy kitty baby) loves her new home. She is the true reason I moved to my own apartment. My mom's boys HATED Mindy, and Mindy is a tiny old woman that never did anything to them. She just wanted to sleep in my room, occasionally eat and use the box. But the boys wanted her dead. I had to keep Mindy locked in my room, but they persisted. They started body slamming my door and howling at all hours to stress her old heart out, and pooping outside my door to 'mark' the territory. Whenever they did manage to sneak in, they would tackle her, roll her onto her back and tear and bite at her belly. A 20 pound young male vs. a tiny bony old 6 pound woman. Not a fair fight. So Mindy and I had to leave before they either started peeing on my door and/or actually killed her. But she adores the new boy free apartment. Lots of space to sleep and run with no one hunting her.
