Rocking Horse Shoes

I remember the first time I saw a photo of a Lolita wearing ballerina Rocking Horse shoes, I thought they were the ugliest, most un-flattering shoes I had ever laid eyes upon. lol For years I continued to think so, until they finally started growing on me and I started finding pics where they looked quite cute. I still think that first photo is horrid, though. The RH shoes looked like bananas on the girl's feet that clashed horribly with the rest of her outfit. >_>
But enough of that now. Once I began to finally like the look of RH shoes, I just couldn't help but wonder how anyone could possibly walk with their heel missing! And on platforms none-the-less! o_O I always pictured myself (if I ever bought a pair) ripping open the package, pulling the shoes out with sheer joy on my face, putting them on my feet, lacing the straps up to my knees, standing up, taking one step, then loosing my balance and falling flat on my face. lol When my dad gave me some extra money to spend online, I finally decided to take the plunge and buy a pair. I ordered a black pair from Little Chili Lolita Shop with foam soles. I had done a little research on the shoes since I was curious about them, and everyone seemed to agree that the foam soles were much easier to walk in than the actual heavy wood sole.
And I'd just like to add, I also learned that the original Vivienne Westwood Rocking Horse Shoes cost $850! *faints* They're lovely, but omg for $850 they should be lined with gold! lol Mine cost about $65, which I thought was expensive at the time, but now I see that's pretty cheap for Rocking Horse shoes. ^^;
I was so excited when they finally arrived! I opened the box, pulled them out, put them on (and I was very surprised and relieved that they fit so well), laced the straps, stood up, took a step... and surprisingly didn't fall over! I took a few more steps in my room, then walked down the hall to show them off to my mom. They're actually extremely easy to walk in! I thought I'd be falling over and losing my balance in every direction, but I felt like I could take off running in them (I didn't dare to actually try, though). I really am amazed at how comfy and easy to walk in the shoes are. Believe me, if you ever buy a pair of Rocking Horse shoes, definitly get a pair with a foam sole! They're not as durable as the wooden ones, but they're much comfier and easier. In fact, I actually find them easier to walk in than my Creepers! I still have trouble keeping the laces up my leg, though. They always want to fall down, so I finally started wrapping them around my ankle. I don't really like that look as well, but it's much more functionable (meaning that I don't have to stop and pull the laces back up every few steps). I must say, these are now one of my fav pairs of shoes and I'd love to buy other colors of them as well! Not sure that I'll be able to afford it, though. ^^;
