Another post, sorry..XD

I was just looking at the comments I got when I posted a picture a REALLY long time ago on gaia. And I asked them if it's good for my age, and at that time I was like 13...And a lot of them were nice and not very mean and a lot of them told me that age doesn't matter and I've learned that it really doesn't, but then I read this comment:

Wakusei Ayu (this is what I said)
I kinda feel discouraged already. Don't get mad at me for saying this, but I am an extremely sensitive person. This is not my best work and I didn't ink it. I just sketched a picture for my friend because I had a bad artists block and then photoshopped it really quickly so it's just a bad, simple sketch. I didn't have any of my good pictures uploaded yet so I just uploaded whatever seemed complete(as in not fixed).

(This is what they said)
Um.
Okay, well so what?
People are criticizing THIS work, and if your going to post your art on a website don't expect everyone to be nice.
Your sensitive?
AW, CRY ME A ******** RIVER.
Don't post your art and ask for an opinion if your going to go cry to your mommy everytime someone makes a negative comment.
And stop using age as an excuse.
Art is simple and beautiful, and asking if its "good for a thirteen year old" just crushes it.

*cough* Yeah...I was a little 13-year-old girl. Very naive and actually REALLY sensitive, now, not so much. But if you look at my old comments I sound really depressed and very sensitive. So when I said sensitive I MEANT sensitive. And this idiot shoves that in my face...O.o Why? Do they not understand what kind of kid they're talking to? I could go and cause suicide just of or a comment like that.

It's comments like those to younger members that are REALLY hurtful because little kids are filled with butterflies and think the world is great, but when you tell things to them like that it's really rude.

And here's another one:

Excuses, excuses. So what? Do you think an Art Director's going to sympathize if you're "extremely sensitive?" Hell no. If you're so sensitive then you'll never make it in the art world. It's pretty much a requirement to develop a tough skin when trying to break it in the art world.
And no, you're not great for a 13 year old. You're average. Period. Just because you're 13 doesn't mean people are going to be nice. And don't go looking for asspats either. People develop at different ages. I saw a man who started to learn to draw at 25. He sucked the first time, like really bad. Now look at him. A year of learning and sweating blood and tears has gotten his paintings hanging at an Art Museum. Yeah, it's exciting to see a young person draw amazing stuff, but that's not important. The ending piece of art, the beauty of it and the essence in it is important, not the artist's age.

It would've been fine at first, but then they kinda kept going. BE NICE TO THEM IF THEY'RE 13! I'm nice to kids when they're 13, why can't other people be? Yes, they need to learn, but you can just learn from TV, that's what I did...Actually no, I think it was from the kids at my new school and how rude they were and every time I cried they'd look at me like I wasn't even human and that was really crushing. So then for a year a became emotionless, then really mean, and now I'm myself because I have no classes with those evil kids! >:(

But I know they meant well. Just people need to be aware of tones.

This is a good example of telling somebody like little me what I needed:

Ay...You an me both (as in the sensitivity)

Really, people such as yourself really have to stop looking at your age and start looking at what you think of it yourself. If you don't think it's good, don't post it. Here in the pic post, a lot of people will critique it in a sensible manner. If they go on flaming you for bad art, obviously you've got the options in your hands but I won't exactly lay down possibilities.

Now anyways, about the pic. I never got the chance to look at it and probably won't. Having said anything about your age, especially in your wording "is this good for 13 year old", well I really can't say much in the case of your art but rather your thinking.

There really is no minimum you've got to live up to, so a message to everyone: stop mentioning your age stare . The worst post you can ever get when you mention your name in your pic thread is not the people who discourage you, but those who encourage you when there are clear ways of improving yourself. Not that I'm assuming this, but judging from past threads and replies, people have been giving encouragements where there are several problems that could have been and can be corrected in mere future.

Sorry if I sounded mean, or discouraged you in any other way. Obviously the message has been getting to peoples' heads considering the previous posts. But coincidentally, people are getting the message a little too well. Really, relax. It's not that big of a deal that she said she was 13. It would have been nice just to throw in a few critiques (which are present). Although, just I would like to quote this: if I was 13 yesterday, and 14 today, would my skills in drawing be any better than the day before? Take it at that

Oh and good luck with your pics.

Well, anyways, I'm using gaia to get critiques. BUT I GET NONE! All they tell me is that they really like it or that thy can't really seem to think of anything I can change. Which makes me mad because I KNOW my picture isn't really that good. Or they post really random things that make no sense...>.>

I'll try whatever I can to improve, I'm even more motivated by reading these old comments. And I'm thinking of buying a sketch book. Sounds like there is no point to that since I can draw on here any day and not waste any materials...BUUT I have a problem with paying attention...XD So I can only draw one picture a day or attempt to draw a picture.

Well, that's about it. Sorry for spamming you guys. Just trying to let you guys know that if you're talking to younger members, or any member, BE NICE! ABSOLUTELY NICE! You have no clue what they're going through on the other end.
