so here is the one shot. if you want to see the deleted scene you'll have to go on youtube and look it up cuz i'm way too lazy to post it :D Ack! *falls* my cat just attacked me. anyway, on with the story.
The task force stood in front of the simple grave. Only Haruka knew that L wasn’t really buried there. His body had been flown back to England. But seeing the cross shaped headstone gave her some sort of closure.
Her hands gripped the skirt of her somber black dress as she held her tears back. She didn’t want to cry in front of the task force.
She didn’t look up when Chief Yagami started speaking. She kept her face carefully blank when Light vowed to make sure Kira was executed. She just stared at the headstone.
Eventually Aizawa, Matsuda, and Chief Yagami began to walk away from the grave. Haruka and Light didn’t move.
“Haruka… Light…” Matsuda said softly.
Haruka took a deep, shaky breath. “Go on,” she said to them. “My car’s this way.” She pointed the direction opposite of where they were going. The team kept walking and Haruka went the other direction. Instead of going to her car, she ducked behind a tree a few yards away and leaned against it. She pressed her hands tightly against her mouth, unable to keep the tears back any longer but not wanting Light to hear her. She would go back to the grave when he left. She heard Light begin to speak and looked around the tree, thinking maybe someone had come back. But there was no one there.
She strained to hear what Light was saying but was unable to make out the words. Suddenly he threw himself on the ground and began screaming at the headstone. “I won! I won! What do you think of that, L? I will become God of the new world!”
Haruka couldn’t do anything but stand in shock as Light composed himself and slowly stood up. He shot an evil grin at the grave and walked away. When he was out of sight, she shakily made her way to L’s empty grave and collapsed to her knees.
“L… You were right. You were right.”
She hung her head and let the sobs come.
Light Yagami was Kira. And there wasn’t a thing she could do about it.
i actually cried while writing this. otherwise it probably wouold have been longer. even though it's really sd and practically killed me to write it, seeing as how i love L so much that i cosplayed as him for halloween, i still really like this. hope you guys did too.
