Pilot

Haruka sighed as she looked out the plane window. Flying was definitely not her favorite way to travel. She nervously put another piece of gum in her mouth. She was now chewing five pieces. There was something about growing up at Whammy’s that tended to make people somewhat orally fixated.
Speaking of orally fixated, Haruka thought with a small smile as she glanced at L, who was sitting next to her in his adorably odd way. His finger was to his lips, as usual. The two had been inseparable since meeting at Whammy’s so many years ago. They made a good team.
Haruka grunted and almost swallowed the gum in her mouth as the plane hit turbulence. L glanced at her and she gave him a reassuring grin, but her stomach was churning. She couldn’t wait for the plane to land. Not just so she could be on the ground, but also because of the new case L had taken.
Kira.
She was tired of thinking about this case; she wanted to do something about it.
Killing criminals with heart attacks. How is that even possible? Haruka thought. It just doesn’t add up. I can’t wait to start working on this. I’m sure L already has a few theories. She looked at him and grinned again. Her thoughts were interrupted by the captain’s voice over the PA system.
“Attention ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We will be landing in Japan in about 45 minutes.”
Haruka breathed a sigh of relief. Finally.
“Are you alright?”
Haruka blinked at L. “Huh?”
“You’ve been staring at me. Is something wrong?”
She smiled. “No. Everything’s fine.” For now.

It's short, I'm sorry. This is kinda just a pilot thing though, the next one will be longer. But it will be a while before I put it up, because I'm waiting for a certain episode to be shown on Adult Swim. On a side note, I turned this in to school for a short story ^_^ It was supposed to be a symbolism story though... Oh well.
