Personality: At first glance Dieter might just seem like a crass jerk who hasn't grown out of his teenage years and still hasn't learned the concept of "consequences", but deep down is a kind heart. As much as he argues with with his family, he loves them deeply and hates the thought of them being disappointed in or ashamed of him. He desperately wants to quit drugs and break free, but there is, of course, that part of him that just can't let go. When thinking straight, he'll be willing to admit he has a problem, especially with drugs, but there are still times when he's defensive and will resist anyone who tells him they're worried about him or that he needs to change.
Bio: With his birth father abandoning him when he was four and his birth mother dying when he was five, Dieter spent most of his growing up stealing food, almost always on the brink of starvation. Growing up as an orphan in the famine-stricken, dictator-ruled Asura, he learned how to fend for himself and at the same time harbored a high resentment for government. At 12 years old he met Waffle, who trained him to be a Sone Imperial.
As soon as he was introduced to the concept of the paffe, he became hooked on the idea of infinite food, eating so much he'd puke, and then repeat the process (binge, puke, binge, puke) for a few hours, until he'd stop eating for a day or two, and that soon became his regular eating habit, even after he had to start forcing himself to puke after his binging episodes. Due to his EDNOS, his childhood malnutrition, his physically demanding career, and his drug use (lowering his appetite and keeping his weight low) he ended up being short, extremely thin, and having a small frame. Despite this, he did his best to not let his EDNOS hurt his career.
While he was training with Waffle at 12 years old, he met Eugene (a fellow Sone Imperial) and Lev (who was 5 at the time, and eventually grew up to also be a Sone Imperial)and stayed with them for a few days. When he was promoted to an official Sone Imperial at 13, wanting to brag to someone, he went and announced it to them. It was at that time that he realized that they had become like family to him, and he had become like family to them. It wasn't soon after that he adopted Eugene's last name (Testhly) on top of his own (Wood).
However, it wasn't long after he had become a Sone Imperial that he became addicted to the various drugs that he discovered in the places he visited. It wasn't long before drugs consumed his health, leading him to dying and needing a new body every four to five years, whether his death was due to an overdose, suicide, withdrawal, or other drug-related death. Knowing that the ones who retrieved his consciousness gem was usually Eugene or Lev, and knowing that neither of them even remotely touch the drugs or lifestyle he leads, he started to feel ashamed and defensive. When he was about 42, after Eugene had retrieved his consciousness gem when he had overdosed on meth, Dieter became so defensive he yelled, screamed, and swore at Eugene, assuming Eugene was extremely disappointed to the point of hate (despite Eugene remaining calm and loving, as his his personality). After that he refused to speak to Eugene for 35 years, until recently). He still kept in touch with Lev for his entire life. While most drugs he never made a conscious effort to get clean from, a few, such as meth and especially krokodil, he'd sworn to never touch again. And, similar to his EDNOS, he did his best to not let his drug use interfere with his ability to work.
Recently (as in, since the roleplay started), Dieter has not only started to make some life changes, but has found reason to. After hearing a conversation with his then-friends-with-benefits Enya and her friend about her friend missing his son (not unlike this conversation), Dieter realized that Eugene never hated him, and called him. After reconnecting, Eugene decided to move to the city. After Dieter's Evanescent, Milowake, called and told him that, due to a power plant being down, he had to pick between drugs and his career as a Sone Imperial, he decided to move in with Eugene (with Lev following soon after) for support. While Enya helped him move, she revealed to him that she might be pregnant. After that, with having the support of his dad, brother, and Enya (who then became his girlfriend), he started changing his life. He's doing his best to keep off hard drugs, and has recently decided to work on his EDNOS.
