Ok, here's some brief info on auras (in this series) It's not very detailed but will give some background info that will probably impact on later chapters.
All intelligent beings (humans, higher and middle class demons and various other animals and creatures that have near human intelligence) have auras. They are a reflection of the soul and visible only when using the second sight, which also makes visible the brand on every demons (excluding lower class) aura that represents the clan/s they come from.
All auras have a base colour that is the same as the persons eyes, as the eyes are the window to the soul. However, the persons lifestyle, personality, goals and experiences can have a physical representation visible on a persons aura, for example someone whos life is dedicated to evil will have a aura that is tainted with black.
When someone performs an act of magic or anything that involves personal power, the energy is drawn through the persons soul and is therefore tinted with the colour of their aura, however it will only show the base colour, not any variations that the person has gained over their life. All acts of magic come from the soul and can therefore only be performed by creatures with an aura.
It takes alot of practice for a human to use magic, as they have little control over there auras and none but a precious few have access to the second sight, however demons and part demon can learn to manipulate their power relatively easily, and may find that they are skilled in certain areas of magic and are able to perform these without conscious thought during times of need, the more powerful the demon, the more pronounced and strong this will be.
