The Life of Nathan Slade

I'm Nathan Slade. I'm fifteen and go to Oak Ridge High School. I'm a Sophomore in high school and participate in many activities. I sing in the Varsity Choir and in the Jazz ensemble. I sing a lot and music surrounds me every day at all times.
I didn't know all of this would be shattered in one night. That I would get caught up in the Apocalypse. But either way, I am madly in love with a girl named Katelyn Asleson. She's a singer as well. Her voice is beautiful in every way. How her voice slides over the notes without any effort as they curve up and down in a sweet tone, like honey.

I would ask her out, if she wasn't perfect. She is the head of almost every club and organization and has the perfect boyfriend. Kyle Charity, star football quarterback. A mega-douche. He basically thinks he's the hottest stuff because he has a gorgeous girlfriend and can throw a football. He happens to beat me up or pick on me a lot. See, I'm a nerd. I read more books than plays in a football book. I'm still pretty fashionable, except for the Mario T-shirts and Deathnote T-shirts. Let's face it, people look down on those T-shirts, which is quite sad, considering it's great fiction and entertainment.

Today was a Friday. I went to my locker and got my books and turned only to get them smacked down by Kyle Charity and his goons.

"Wanna pick those up?" he laughed.

I bent over and got them, only to get them smacked to the floor again. This time though, he shoved me into my locker. He grabbed me by the shirt. I punched him in the face and threw him into the locker behind me. I got my books and smacked them on his head before throwing him into human traffic. I ran to my class. He was right behind me. Luckily, I got into class just as the bell rang. He growled as he realized he had to spend lunch in detention. I have friends. Everyone knows me too, which is probably why Kyle hunts me down everyday. Everyone only knows me as Ben's friend. Ben Ray is probably the most popular kid in school. He's my best friend and we hang out constantly.

It's a shame that our friendship had to be ruined by Horsemen. I opened up my binder and prepared for my math class.
School was done for afterwards and I was picked up by my dad. I had one week until I had my license.

"How was school?"

"Meh." I replied.

"Great to hear."

My dad then shifted gears to go home.
