Kitty Chapter 2; Victoria

Part 1

Kitty ran, with powerful grace, speed, and muscle. Ju-Ji was riding on her leopard’s back. Her fur was smooth and silky under his grip. Kitty had a job o do on the other side of the country, in vampire form she wasn’t fast enough and cheetah, though they are the fastest, aren’t good at long distance. Normally, she would have made Ju-Ji fly but he couldn’t fly as fast as she could run and couldn’t go as far.

Kitty breathed in the cool, wet air. It was thick with moisture and the smell of something else clung to the air. She shook Ju-Ji off her back. She stood up, with a smooth motion the fur rippled over her back like water, retracting back into her skin. Kitty sniffed the air, the smell was that of a human female. She was young, about twenty and was moving in Kitty’s direction.
“Well I am getting hungry” Kitty thought, directing it at Ju-Ji with the mental connection they shared. It came with being master, or in this case, mistress and servant.
“Please don’t play with this one, we’re running out of time.” He sent back desperately.
“Fine” Kitty frowned at him.

The woman that Kitty had smelt came out on a narrow path in the trees. She had medium length brown hair. It flowed over her shoulders making it’s way to a point halfway down her back. It was clinging to her casual, blue t-shirt in several places. She was humming a song Kitty did not know softly to herself. She walked past the spot where Kitty was hiding in the shadows.

Kitty stepped out behind her. Swiftly, she pressed down on one of the woman’s pressure points. She slipped into unconsciousness. Kitty caught her, plunging fangs into her soft, delicate neck. Her blood was sweet with a faint coppery taste. Kitty let the blood flow into her mouth, gulping it down with hungerous frenzy. She stopped feeding, looking down at her pale victim. She would know it was he result of a vampire when she woke up. She would still be pale, the tell-tale sign of two dainty holes on the side of her neck and the apparent sudden loss of memory (the result of not knowing she had being knocked out). Kitty hoped desperately she wouldn’t turn, it was the duty of every vampire that if he or she turns a human, that they must teach them what to do and how to survive. Failure of this results in being executed by the head of the bloodline. Kitty usually killed her victims, but she was full so there was no reason to kill this poor, innocent girl.

Kitty lowered her to the ground, vowing to check on her on her way back home. She was duty-bound to check and see if she had turned her.
“Ju-Ji” she said, turning smoothly back into a leopard. Ju-Ji clambered onto her back. Kitty took off, racing the wind.

Part 2
Reaching the outskirts of the town, Kitty changed as she ran. A ripple ran down her spine, changing her. One moment leopard the next cheetah. Kitty ran faster, racing towards her destination. Ju-Ji clung as tight as he could, terrified. Sliding to a stop, Kitty shook Ju-Ji off her back. She changed, standing up. Kitty put on her most human expression. She could appear human if she wanted to all except for the most experienced, vampire hunter and the rest of the preternatural community. To get a taxi to target’s apartment she would have to not frighten the driver.

Kitty gave her money to the taxi driver, stepping out of the taxi onto the rough pavement. She had had to resort to punching the first driver after he had attempted to hit on her. Thankfully, the last driver was female. Kitty walked inside the apartment building. Her employers supplied her with a room number, so no searching for the right room. The place was shabby, with low lighting to hide and disguise the dodgy paintjob, and numerous cracks. Kitty smirked at the place before climbing the old, creaky stairs up t the second floor.

Walking up the corridor of doors, all of which had ordered numbers on them, Kitty found the right room. The door was unlocked, but no one was home. Kitty pushed it gently open. She made her way into the room, pushing the door closed behind her. Kitty sat on the couch, sitting with total stillness that only vampires can achieve.

Part 3

Kitty hadn’t taken long. The moment he came through the door he died. He was human, and was also completely without any shields. Kitty thought as she ran about the girl she had bitten. She made sure to take the route that would take her through the woman’s town.

As she approached she smelt vampire. A new vampire. She sighed, a look of pain passing over her face. She would have to take care of this girl. She stopped, allowing Ju-Ji to get off. Following the scent, she found her. Crying. Obviously, she had been raised in a town that taught that being a vampire is one of the worst things possible.
“Hey” Kitty said, tentatively. The woman looked up startled, her fangs showing.
“What do you want?” She asked “surely you don’t want anything to do with a vampire?” Kitty sighed.
“You can come with me.” She said, leaving out that she would have to go with her, regardless of what she wanted.
“Why would you want to travel with me?”
“I’m a vampire too” Kitty said, flashing fang “I can teach you”
“Oh”
“You have no place among humans” Kitty reminded her “You would be better off coming with me” She nodded.

Kitty held out her hand. She had better make a start. The woman accepted Kitty’s hand, allowing herself to be pulled to her feet.
“Kitty, I’m called Kitty”
“Victoria”

Okay I know the ending is a little rough, but I think it symbolizes the start to a new beginning.
