Chapter 3: The Brother’s meet

✧Vic✧

The streets are huge and bussiling with both player and npc’s There are shops that run all down main street that lead to the center of Skjlom. There are four main streets in all. North Main, South Main, East Main, and West Main. I came into on South Main. There were Elves, Humans, cyborgs, just walking down and looking around I could point out at least one of every race that is in this game to be able to play. People going in and out of shops, the smell of backed goods as I pass by some of the bakeries. They really thought of everything for this game. The fact that the developers even brought in a person’s senses of smell and touch is amazing.

“Maybe I should ask around about the glitch and if it happened to anyone else since I’m here with all these people.” I muttered to myself looking around.

I looked to my left to see two girls talking and laughing. The one that was closest to me was playing as a Neko the cat race of the game and the other girl was a Usagi the rabbit race. “They seem like they may answer my question.” I wandered over to them. “Excuse me.” I spoke up and the two girls kind of glared at me. “Uha…I just got here not too long ago and I’ve kind of last where I was going. Can you tell me where one of the weapon shops are so I can get my weapon?” I can’t believe I back down. I’m so pathetic.

The Usagi girl snorted, “Newbie.”

My forced my smile to stay on my face. ‘Keep calm and remember to skim through Liz’s strategy guide before getting on next time to see if you can do PvP’s to thump this no good child.’ I don’t even care that she is a girl you don’t just snort at someone like that. Some of us have classes to go to and aren’t in grade school anymore. By the sound of her voice she sounded like she must be younger. That was one thing that they could probably fix in an update or something.

“Remmy that isn’t nice.” The Neko girl smacked her friend. “You past it actually. If your looking for more so axes and whips the store on this main street focuses more on those. Each weapons shop is in the same spot on all four main streets. Just look to your left and you’ll spot the weapons shop sign.”

I bowed slightly “Thank you. Sorry to take up your time.” I apologized.

“It was no trouble at all. I don’t mind being stopped by a cute human such as yourself.” I looked at her as I stood up straight again with a smile.

“That’s sweet of you. I’m not too interested in axes or whips so I think I’ll look on the other main streets to see the other stores. Thank you again.” I waved and then started headed towards the center of town.

“Good luck.” She called after me as I walked away.

“Thanks.” I yelled back and continued walking. Good to know that my fox magic is working out well. People think that I chose the human race so that’s a plus. I walked into the center of town and it was huge. It was like a park with the large circle of grass in the center. The cobble stone roads circled around the outside. There were café’s and bakeries everywhere around the circle, along with blacksmith shops for armor and weapon repairs, general stores that I assume had items like pouches and potions for the travelers that don’t want to base themselves in magic or learn alchemy. There were also some guilds that had they headquarters placed here in the center of town. The guilds here were the base guilds that anyone could join and were run by NPC’s. If I was going to go into a guild I was either start one myself or I would go into one where it wasn’t run by an NPC.

There were three huge bulletin boards that forms and equilateral triangle if you drew an invisible line all of them. I’m assuming that’s where missions were posted for other’s to get money and exp a bit faster. After I figure out what weapon I am gong to get slash what I can get I’ll probably stop back and see what’s on the board to make some more sol. There were conversations going on all over the place. Even though my ears were hidden from the public eye I could feel them twitching on top of my head as I listened to the multitude of conversations around me.

But out of the parts of conversations I was catching none of them even had a hint about if that person got a glitch or not. “Maybe I should just keep my mouth shut about that kind of thing.” I mumbled to myself as I walked around the coble stone road and started to head towards West Main Street.

As I rounded the corner I wasn’t really paying attention and I ran smack dab into someone. I stumbled back and landed on my butt with a thud. My nose stung from taking who’s ever I ran into head into it.

“Ow ow ow.” I looked over to see that I ran into a Usagi boy. He had green hair with a blue streak in the center of his bangs. Since his head hit my nose. I’m assuming that he’s shorter then me be an inch or two is what I’m assuming. Even though his basic rouge class clothes I could tell that this kid had some muscle behind him but it wasn’t over powering and obnoxious. For this race it was the right amount to help him stay quick on his feet.

“Sorry.” We apologized at the same time and we locked eyes. He had golden eyes that stood out against his light skin tone and hair.

“I wasn’t paying attention where I was going.” I said rubbing my nose.

The boy instantly shook his head. “I was already yelled at for running around like I was. NPC’s anyways ya know.” He laughed rubbing the back of his head and his cheeks flushed a light pink.

“I’m Vic by the way.” I smiled at him.

“My names Shun, it’s a pleasure to meet you Vic.” The boy answered back.

I crossed my wrists and held my hands out to Shun. He chuckled lightly and grabbed my hands and we stood up in unison. “My little brother and I used to always stand up like that when we were kids.” He commented.

“It must be a brother thing then. I use to do it with my brother all the time too.” I mentioned as we let go of each other’s hands. “So what were you in a hurry about?” I asked him changing the subject.

“Oh I was coming from the weapon’s shop on West Main and the shop keeper told me if I’m looking for bows so I can get a price range I should go to East Main. I just picked up my dagger.”

“I’m still gotta pick up my weapon.” I said looking away.

“Are you going for a blade type weapon? If you are I can take you to the weapon shop on West Main it’s not a problem.” Shun offered.

“Really? That would be awesome. This place is bigger then I thought.” I laughed a little.

“It really is. And I don’t really want to walk around with my main menu open to see the mini map for the place either.” Shun stated.

“Same here. I think it just looks silly. Besides I think that in one of the shops they give out hint books that have maps in them. The beta testers made them so I’m sure that it would probably be a good idea to pick it up.” I stated as we started walking down West Main to the weapon shop.

“That’s a good idea actually.” Shun said. The weapon shop wasn’t too far from the center of town and that neko girl was right it was on the left if you were coming from the center of town.

We walked into the shop and it was much bigger on the inside then it looked on the outside. There were two floors to the building. The lower floor was throwing items and daggers the upper floor was swords and shields.

“Hello and welcome to West Main’s Weapon shop. We specialize in throwing weapons, along with swords and shields. How may I help you today?” An elf NPC walked up to us and bowed slightly.

“My friend Vic here hasn’t gotten his free base weapon yet. What are you looking for Vic?” Shun asked me.

“Oh well I want to do throwing weapons but I also want to at least have a short sword for I have a little bit of a longer range.” I answered.

“How about we start you with a pack of Kunai then.” The NPC smiled at me and then motioned for me to follow her, which I did. She took me over to the kunai. “This is the basic kunai that you will get for free. It’s a pack of ten and you also get the pouch for free.”

“That’s not that bad of an idea since I don’t have to initially throw the kunai if I don’t want to.” I nodded in agreement. “Alright. I’ll take the Kunai.” I smiled at the NPC.

“I will retrieve your pouch and pack of ten kunai from behind the counter then.” She said with a bow she excused herself to go back behind the counter to get everything. “Here you are sir. Happy hunting.” She smiled handing me the pouch with the kunai.

“Thank you.” I smiled at her taking the pouch. “You were going to go to the weapon shop that specializes in bows and arrows weren’t you?” I asked Shun as I attached the pouch to my belt. I’ll have to do some missions and get an upgrade in armor as soon as I can. I’m not too fond of these basic rouge armor with being at a higher level.

“Yeah I was. But I want to stop at the bulletin boards first to see if there are a few missions that I want to pick up. You don’t have to come with me I understand if you are busy with other things.” Shun answered.

I nodded and looked up in my upper right corner and noticed something. There was a little meter that said transformation on it. It was running low. ‘Does that mean I can only hold a transformation for a certain length of time?’ “I don’t mind I was going to go there myself. But actually do you want to go out into the field and check out how the combat system in this world works. I’m interested to see how it works?” I don’t know why, but with this kid I feel like there’s something different about him that I can trust him.

“Oh uha sure why not. We get sol fighting monsters anyways so it’ll get me closer to whatever the bow I want will cost.” He agreed.

I grabbed his wrist and pulled him out of the weapons shop behind me. “Have a nice day.” The NPC called after us.

“You do the same.” Shun and I said in unison.

“Vic, why are we running?” he asked me as I dragged him to the west gate.

“I have a meter that’s running a bit low and I’d rather not have it end in the middle of town.” I answered quickly.

“Did you not make sure that your head set was charged before getting on?” Was his next question for me…

“Please, I have it plugged in to make sure that it doesn’t run out.” I answered with a snicker as we ran out of the gate and into the field. I looked over and I saw the meter flash then there was a small poof around me and I felt on top of my head and my ears were back.

“So you’re a kitsune. But I thought that kitsune weren’t supposed to get transformation magic till they got their second tail.” Shun commented.

“Well here’s the thing I have my second tail already, but I wasn’t lying when I said that I just started the game…something happened when I was just about to enter into the game.” I said my voice slowly fading and I couldn’t keep eye contact with him.

“Wait…did your game glitch when you were going to come into the game?” Shun asked and my eyes grew wide.

‘How did he know?’ I couldn’t help but nod slowly.

“So I’m not the only one it happened to then.” Shun sighed in relief. “The only reason why you can’t tell with me is because I’m an Usagi so my appearance doesn’t change with the higher levels.”

“So we’re pretty much in the same boat. We ended up getting a glitch copy of the game but we don’t want to be considered cheaters and ask others about it.” I muttered crossing my arms and my ears twitched as I thought.

“Why don’t we team up then?” Shun stated and I tipped my head. “You’re looking at me like I’m crazy. I know my brother gives me the same exact look when I say something that sounds crazy. Maybe this glitch happened to us for a reason. It’ll be more difficult if we try and figure it out alone.”

“But we’re both rouge class, how is that going to work at all in our favor?” I questioned. “I mean I know that the rouge class can split into multiple different classes but still…” I mentioned.

“So we go down different paths with the rogue class. I already thought about it and I want to go towards to bow and blade branch when I can get to level thirty.” He told me.

“I really wanted to go towards the ninja class…so in the end it actually works out well. Between the two of us we will have all the ranges covered. So the only thing that we need to figure out is if we’re going to try to ask someone who’s a mage and going to be more the healer type to join the group or we learn alchemy and potion making.” I mentioned crossing my arms over my chest.

I heard a little ping and a message popped up in front of me.

Join a party with Shun?
Yes No

I looked over at him and he was smiling wide at me. I couldn’t help but smile back and I clicked yes.
