Chapter 33: Up to the Meadow

♢Noel♢

I sat there and I didn’t say anything to Elena as she left. Her words were still sinking in. She was right I could have died today from that. If it weren’t for Nori’s healing ability, I would have bled out in no time. Eevie’s words were still bouncing around in my head about not being so reckless and let them also protect Nori and myself.

“What do I do?” I asked out loud quietly as I continued to stare at the closed door.

“Let her have some space. That’s probably the best thing to do right now.” Nori replied.

“Are you going to be okay Master Noel?” Yun asked as he sat down next to my laptop. Yun’s voice was a much high pitch when he was in his little form. The first time he went into his full human form internally I was a bit shocked at how much his voice dropped, After the past few days I’ve kinda started to get use to the change.

I nodded a little, “I think I’ll be okay. Thank you Yun.” I smiled a little.

Eevie told me to give her time. As much as it hurt to watch her leave, I feel like Eevie would have been upset with me and I would be upset with myself if I went after her. Space, as much as it hurt, was the best thing I could do right now. Unplugged my headphone and had the music playing quietly.

Yun was asking questions about my Bio homework as I wrote stuff down. After bio tomorrow I was going to be asking if I could just switch to the 8 o’clock class. The professor said that it was the smallest class anyways and the class I was in was the biggest class. I would rather be in the smaller class. I’m not a huge fan of having 20 other kids in one room at a time. Even though five classes didn’t seem like a lot they were worth four of them were worth 4 credits each and then I was taking a P.E. class and that was worth 2 credits so it was considered a full load. 16-18 credits are a full load. You could always get an override for taking more credits, but they usually didn’t want you to do that. I had my gym class after my Bio class, but it wouldn’t take too long for me to be able to talk with my teacher to let her know I was switching to the first class.

When I got about half way through my homework Yun was complaining that he was hungry and sprawling himself over my book so I couldn’t work any longer. Sighing I got everything together and we headed to dinner. Though I didn’t eat much. I was alone for dinner, well technically alone, Yun just couldn’t be seen. Yun ate most of my food for me. After he was full we left and I headed back towards the dorms.

“Master Noel, do you here that?” Yun asked me and I looked over towards the science building.

Well yeah, I could hear it. It sounded like someone was upset. Either that or heavily exercising. “Should we go check it out?” I asked.

“I think it’s Eevie and Elena. That’s what I’m picking up anyways.” Nori answered.

“Did you want to go see what was up?” Yun questioned in return.

I nodded and walked to the back of the building. I peeked around to see Elena laying on the ground. Sweat glistening off her skin in the moonlight. “She must have been training.” Nori commented.

‘Is it because of what you said to her about us being a step ahead of her and Eevie?’ I asked as I watched her chest rise and lower from her breathing.

“I’m sure it’s a lot of things.” Nori replied.

I watched her for a little longer and my eyes lowered down to the ground. “I’m sorry." I whispered before heading back to my dorm room. When I got back. Austin still wasn’t back yet. I was a bit confused. We compared schedules and he was done while I was in art. I was surprised that he wasn’t back yet. Or maybe he came back while I was in the library and he just left again? His shoes weren’t here either. Maybe he was hanging out with Sam and some of his other friends.

“He’s still not here.” Yun muttered as he jumped off my shoulder and transformed into his full sized self after I shut the door. His bare feet making a light tap on the ground as he did.

“So he hasn’t been here all day?” I asked a bit confused and pulled out my phone.

Yun shook his head as he sat down on the bed. “When both of you left that was the last time I saw him. Maybe he’s been back in since we left, but with the widows open I can’t really tell.”

“It’s okay. I’ll just shoot him a text asking him what he’s up to.” I answered and typed on my phone quickly before setting it down and getting everything out of my bag again and finishing up my bio homework with some difficulty in the last bit. Then I cranked out half of my first draft of my paper. Nori was amazed with how fast I could type and the fact that I didn’t have to look at the keyboard or even at the screen to know what I was typing. I would stop occasionally to answer Austin back. Alexa also text me asking if I’ve seen Elena. I told her that she was in the library studying with me then she said she had to go somewhere.

I was talking with Yun when he mentioned that. I didn’t mind. I enjoyed being able to type so fast. That’s why I took all the levels of keyboarding classes back in high school. It also kept me from having to have so many study halls. It was a bit help that I was able to do that. When it hit ten I decided it was time to take a shower. I had to take a slow shower. Even though there were no scars and you couldn’t even tell that I got hurt my body was in so much pain and it was taking a lot longer for my muscles, organs, everything else in my body to heal. By the time I got back from the shower and Austin was finally back.

“Hey.” I greeted as I put my clothes in the hamper.

“Hello.” He sounded kind of giddy and he had a light blush across his cheeks and the bridge of his nose.

“Did you have fun hanging out with Sam?” I asked sitting down.

“Master Noel, I think he’s drunk. Master Nori gets the same way if he drinks too much.” Yun said and Austin looked around.

“Did you hear something? It sounded like a high pitched squeaking sound.” I quickly covered my mouth trying not to laugh. He could kinda sorta hear Yun, but I guess it was just squeaks to him.

“I do not sound like I’m squeaking when I talk!!” Yun’s face was bright red.

“There is is again.” He said.

“I don’t here it.” I lied wiping my eyes a bit after sitting back down at my desk.

“That’s weird.” Austin said and pulled his shirt off as he kicked off his shoes.

“Did you get your homework done?” I asked glancing over at him.

“Yeah.” His word was slurred a bit. “I’m going to hit the sack early.”

“Alright.” I walked over and switched off the light after he crawled into bed.

He was out like a light before I could say anything else to him. “He seems like a light weight.” Yun pointed out as I took out my contacts and went and crawled into bed myself.

“That depends on how long he’s been drinking.” I whispered getting under the covers.

“I guess that’s true.” Yun answered and got under the covers as well making a little lump in the sheets on the inside.

I grabbed my phone and text Elena good night and then slid my phone under my pillow. “Good night Yun.” I said quietly closing my eyes.

“Night Master Noel.” He said and I quickly fell asleep.

I sat there in the blank space the pain in my stomach was slowly going to a dual pain. Now that Noel was asleep it would help a bit more, but he would have the pain probably till the end of the week. His healing was much slower then my own, but he still had it at least. If Noel dies when it’s not his time, the contract shatters and he’s absorbed into my body. That was something that I didn’t want him to know about the bonding. Noel popped up next to me. “Hey there.” I greeted with a smile.

“Hey.” Noel answered softly. We sat there in the blank space, neither of us creating a scenery. It was like one of those nights where you don’t dream at all.

“So how are you feeling?” I tried to make conversation so that we weren’t sitting there in silence.

“I’m still in pain.” He looked over at me.

“You should be better by the Friday, that’s what I’m guessing anyways.” I rested my cheek on my knee.

“Do you think she hates me?” Noel questioned pulling his knees up to his chest.

“I know Elena doesn’t hate you. Like Eevie said, give her some time. But that doesn’t mean that you two can’t hang out.” I mentioned.

“You and Eevie are getting kind of risky you know. You shouldn’t be doing that since your engaged.” He scolded me.

“I don’t even know the girl I’m going to marry; besides it’s not like we’re having sex. It’s just playful making out. No harm done.” I smiled at him.

“But still, what if your parents as me what you’ve been doing and they’re really intimidating and it slips out?” he asked panicking a little bit.

“We’ll switch; they won’t be able to tell if it’s me or you talking in your body.” I replied simply.

“I just don’t want you to get in trouble.” Noel pouted.

I placed a hand on his head and messed up his hair. “But, let’s just do some light training how does that sound. We can go up to the meadow and practice for a few hours. We’ll get a bit rougher as the week goes on. But if you hurt you need to tell Yun right away and he’ll back down and lighten up.” I told Noel changing the subject and he nodded.

I figured it would help relax and get what’s been going on between him and Elena off his chest. We chated a bit more and then he ended up waking up. His classes went by fairly quick. He didn’t have art today so he was done at 3 after his gym class. It was fairly quiet for demon activity too. We took the opportunity to practice. It was Thursday evening. The sun was setting and Noel was shaking slightly as his thumb hovered over the send button.

“Just do it. The worst she can say is she’s busy.” I told him.

We found out the that field looks beautiful at night. It’s away from the lights of the school and it was really peaceful. Noel wanted to take Elena up there. Even if she hasn’t given Noel and answer they were hanging out a bit more again. Even if it was just for lunch and dinner. The couldn’t really hang out all that much in class, but they did have the same Bio and lab class together.

He asked her if he could show her something. She answered back with a sure and where should she meet him. He picked by the statue so they could have a little bit of a longer walk. We waited there about five minuets and then she came up to Noel. They greeted each other and then started talking. Elena held onto her left arm with her right behind her back and kept his hands out of his pockets so he could keep himself balanced just incase he tripped.

I just hope that seeing the night sky together would help them not have that awkward feeling that has still been slightly lingering in the air when they hung out. It was worth a shot at least. They wouldn’t get a chance to hang out this weekend since tomorrow after Noel’s studio class we were heading to the demon realm. Noel told Austin that he was going to be going home this weekend after classes. He was planning on telling Elena that we were going to the demon realm this weekend while they were up in the meadows. Hopefully it all works out well.
