Chiyo stared out the window while she dried the dishes that Amira washed.
“Earth to Chiyo! Woohoo!” Amira said, waving a hand in front of Chiyo’s face.
Chiyo blinked and looked at Amira.
“Sorry…” she said picking up the next dish.
It had been a month since Ikuto and Sousuke had dropped Chiyo, Ellie and Amira off at home. Their father was over joyed to see that all of his daughters were home safe. But Chiyo’s heart ached. Ikuto never returned for her. He promised that after he had some alone time he would come and see her once more.
There was a knock on the door.
“I got it!” Ellie shouted, running over to the door.
She opened it and smirked.
“Amiiiirraaa! Your man is here!” she called.
Amira set the washcloth she was using down and walked over to the door,
“I can see that,” Amira said, wrapping her arms around Sousuke.
“Amira…Your hands are wet…” Sousuke said.
“It’s called dishes, silly…”
Chiyo looked over at Sousuke hopefully. Sousuke caught her eye and shook his head.
“No news of Ikuto yet…” Sousuke said.
Chiyo sighed and finished drying the dishes. She stared at her hands while she worked and in particular she looked at the scar on her wrist. Ikuto… The scar no longer burned as it used to, but the scars on her back were another story. Some days they would burn so badly that she would collapse in pain. Luckily, Keisuke knew an ointment that helped soothe the pain. He used to make it for Chiyo’s mother when she was still alive.
“Ready to go?” Sousuke asked Amira.
Amira nodded.
“Remember, Amira…you two have to come back early today, cause it’s a full moon!” Ellie said, “It’s time to test out that potion I made for Sousuke to see if we can lessen his symptoms.”
Sousuke rolled his eyes.
“Of course! See you later!” Amira said.
Chiyo watched Sousuke and Amira leave. She sighed listfully.
“Chiyo…”Ellie said reaching out to her sister.
Chiyo walked away, heading up to her room.
Ellie sighed.
“Mom…I wish there was some way to end Chiyo’s heartache…” Ellie said as she worked on a potion.
“There is nothing you can do…The heart if a mysterious things and love spells and potions are the most dangerous kind of spells,” Wendi said.
“I know…I just…She’s hurting so badly…”
Wendi hugged Ellie close.
“I know…”
Chiyo stared out her window that night. Ikuto…Did he not love her anymore? She still loved him. Maybe…maybe he found a vampire to be with instead…after all…Chiyo was a normal human now.
Ikuto looked through Chiyo’s window to see her asleep. He smiled at her with such gentleness. He was dying to reach out and scoop her into his arms, but refrained from doing so.
Keisuke blinked in surprise when he heard a knock on the door. Sousuke was already with Ellie and Amira. So…who could it be? He opened the door to see Ikuto. Keisuke narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms.
“What the hell are you doing here? You broke her heart, you do realize that…don’t you?” Keisuke asked.
Ikuto closed his eyes.
“I realize what I have done…But it took me longer to find what I was looking for than I originally thought…”
Ikuto pulled out a small box and opened it to show Keisuke.
“It was my mother’s…Atsushi sold it after he killed her…”
Keisuke looked at the object in the box.
“And why would you need that?” he asked the young man.
“Because…with your permission…I would like to be wed to your daughter…Properly,” Ikuto said.
Chiyo jolted awake at the sound of someone knocking on her window. She looked up and tears filled her eyes. She tore the window open and stopped herself from tackling Ikuto in a hug. Ikuto stepped into her room and opened his arms. Chiyo embraced him and started to cry.
“Shh…it’s alright, sweet…” he said, kissing the top of her head, “I am sorry I am late…”
He pulled away and pulled from his pocket a box.
Chiyo watched with interest. What could that be?
“I…I thought that we should do this properly…I asked your father permission…and after some convincing he said yes…” Ikuto said.
He got down on one knee and opened the box to reveal a large diamond ring.
“Chiyo…Will you marry me?” he asked, his face turning red.
Chiyo tackled him to the floor and kissed him.
“Yes!” she cried, after she pulled away.
Ikuto chuckled and hugged her close.
“I love you…” he said.
“I love you too…”Chiyo said in reply.
