Chapter Thirty-One: Reunion

-Jason-

I was confused for a second I didn’t know where I was. Then I realized that Elijah was kissing me. I kissed her back and wrapped my arms around her. I pulled away quickly, “Elijah, why are you here? What’s going on? I don’t understand?” I said looking away.

“We’re here to save you.” She smiled at me as I saw tears starting to swell in the corner of her eyes.

I hugged you and I felt my heart pounding and I pulled her into the hug. “I missed you…I missed you so much.” I whispered into her ear.

“I missed you too.” She said and hugged me back.

“How’s your knee?” I asked her. More worried about her then the pounding in my head.

“You two can talk later, right now we need to get Jason dried up and make sure that he is alright.” Elijah’s father told us.

“I’m fine.” I looked up at him through my soaking wet bangs.

“You need to get checked out.” He ordered.

“I’ll take him to the car dad.” Elijah told her father as she helped me stand up.

It was then that I noticed that I wasn’t really okay. I was really shaky and I couldn’t control it. Elijah went down the ladder first and I followed after she as completely off the ladder just in case I fell off the ladder I didn’t want to hurt her.

“I’m sorry that you had to come in after me.” I apologized looking down at the floor as we walked with a couple of police in front of us just in case.

“Jason, I would do anything for you.” Elijah stated weaving her fingers through mine.

“I just can’t swim. I’ve never learned how to swim.” I mentioned not looking at her.

“I’ll teach you how to swim then.” I looked over at her with a surprised expression on my face.

I took a breath in to say something to her, but a stinging behind my ears stopped me from saying anything. “Jason what’s wrong?” Eli panicked.

As soon as the pain came it was gone. “It’s nothing, it might just be from being underwater for so long.” I answered as I felt behind my ears and I felt three small slits behind my ears.

She looked up at me and smiled at me, “I missed your gaze.”

“I missed seeing you every day.” I replied back to her and took her hand again and we continued walking.

I didn’t want to freak her out about anything right now. All I wanted to happen was for us to get home and I wanted to also see my parents again. When we got to the car Eli and I slipped into the back seat of her father’s cop car and then the two cops that escorted us out went back inside the building.

“What were you feeling behind your ear?” Elijah asked going to check behind my ear.

I grabbed her hand and pulled her into me and kissed her deeply. My heart raced as I felt her louse lips pressed against mine. I missed this sensation so much. I missed her body being pressed against mine. I missed feeling her skin pressed up against mine as we held each other close. Letting go of her hand I wrapped my arms around her waist. I pulled away from her and she smiled at me.

“Is it possible for you to be a better kisser then three months ago?” She asked me as her hands ran up to me face.

“It may just be because we both missed each other.” I answered. Not taking her hands away from my face.

I felt her fingers feel behind my ears and she blinked a few times and then turned my head. She brushed my wet hair out of the way as she checked behind my ears.

“What are these three slits?” She asked me.

“They just showed up. I’m not too sure what they are.” I answered honestly. “I didn’t want to worry you or the people who were bringing us out of there.” I answered. “But, I have a feeling I know what they are.” I stated.

“What are they?” She asked.

“If we go to a pool I want to try something.” I told her.

“Okay…are you sure?” She asked honestly turning my face back to her.

I nodded, “I think that it will be the only way to know for sure if I’m right.” I looked at her.

“Alright; we can go to school tomorrow. We have a pool there. No one usually goes to the pool on Saturday’s.” She answered.

“Thank you.” I smiled at her.

Elijah’s father took me to the hospital where they checked me out and told me that I was free to go, but I needed to eat more and drink more fluids. Elijah was able to convince her dad to let her come back to my house to spend the night. He dropped me off and my parents met me at the end of the driveway.

“You’re not hurt are you? Did they do anything to you?” My mother panicked checking me over.

“Mom I’m okay.” I laughed a little as she hugged me.

My father hugged me as well, “We’re just happy to have you home son.” He told me.

After they released me from the hug I looked at both of them, “I was wondering if the results came back for my DNA.” I questioned.

They nodded as my and I looked down at the ground and I felt tears swell up and blur my vision. “You don’t think I’m a freak do you?” I muttered trying to hold back from crying.

My mother hugged me, “You’re our son, it doesn’t matter what is in your DNA. We will always love you.” She answered.

My dad patted my back and smiled at me, “You just had us very worried.” He said.

“I think if you talk to Elijah’s dad you can get my records from that place for what they put in me.” I told them.

“You don’t worry about that. Right now, how about you head inside and go take a shower. Your mother and I will start dinner and then you can get a good nights sleep.” My dad said.

I nodded and then walked into the house. I figured that Elijah was probably going to get to the house while I was taking a shower so I left my bedroom door open for her to be able to set her stuff down.
