Chapter Nineteen: What just happened?

-Jason-

I held out my elbow for Eli to hook her arm through and then we walked into the school and to the gym to have a good time. Both of us got complements on the way that we looked.

We found a good spot in the gym and we had fun while we were there. I didn’t know how to dance, but Eli was willing to teach me how to dance to the songs like the cotton eye joy, the cupid shuffle, and all other dances.

When it came to a slow song Eli started heading to the wall and I grabbed her hand. “I don’t really know how to slow dance, but my mother taught me a little bit. Do you want to dance?” I asked her.

She smiled and let me lead her out to the dance floor. I placed my hands on her hips and her arms came up around my neck and rested her forearms on my shoulders and we danced. We were enjoying each others company.

“You really do look beautiful tonight.” I told her, looking down and at her.

“You don’t look to bad yourself. You can clean up really nice.” She answered smiling back up at me. “Have you gotten taller?” She asked me.

“It may be the shoes.” I answered truthfully.

I have no idea if I’ve gotten taller. I can’t really tell if something changes on myself is if something drastic happens.

“We’ll see when we get back to my house.” Eli told me.

“Sounds good.” I smiled back at her.

The slow song ended and a really loud song came on. I looked over to see the “king and queen” not having a very good time.

The quick flashing lights and loud music were starting to give me a headache. “Are you alright Ja?” Eli asked me.

“I have a headache.” I answered and she grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the gym and into the hall where it was quiet. “Thank you.” I sighed.

“Of course…”She trailed off and looked at my face.

“What is it?” I asked her.

“Your eyes, they are a lighter blue then normal.” She answered me.

“No…” I groaned and leaned against the wall I was close to and slid down the wall. “I thought that my hair was all that was going to change.

“It’s not that noticeable Ja.” Elijah reassured me.

I looked up at her, “Eli, can I ask you something?” I asked.

“What is it?” She questioned.

I stood back up and straightened my vest then took her hands in mine, “Will you go out with me?” I asked being completely serious.

Eli just smiled and kissed me. My heart raced and I kissed her back. After we broke apart I smiled at her, “I take it that’s a yes?” I laughed lightly.

“You didn’t even have to ask.” She said and wrapped her arms around my waist and hugged me.

Something felt off and I pushed Eli away from me and I ducked just barely dodging a fist that was going to punch me in the side of the face.

“You bastard, you think that you can suddenly appear out of nowhere and then just steal my women?” Conner was furious; he must have seen us kiss.

“He didn’t steal me Conner.” Eli retorted back at him.

“I’m going to break you in half and put you in a coma.” Conner said out of rage and kicked at me.

I jumped out of the way and lightly landed on my feet. I had no idea how I just did that. Was it the cat DNA? Was it kicking in?

“I don’t want to fight.” I told him taking a couple of steps back away from him. This was two month ago all over again.

“Conner stop it!” Both Eli and his girlfriend shouted at him.

“J-just go and get an adult.” I told them as I felt like back hit the lockers.

“No where to go pipsqueak.” He smirked at me and sent everything he had in one punch I moved my head at the last second and he punched the locker. I heard some thing snap from his hand. I couldn’t tell if it was his knuckles cracking or if something broke in his hand. I was taking short breaths and my eyes were wide staring at him. He pulled his hand away and went for another punch when the gym teacher interlocked his elbow with Conner’s.

“You might want to stop, you already have a warning from the principle that if you get into a fight one more time that you are going to be suspended and kicked off the football team.” The gym teacher told him.

Conner was pulled away by the gym teacher glaring at me as he did. Eli ran over to me and placed a hand mo my face. Her hands felt really warm; I must have been as white as a ghost.

“Are you alright?” Eli asked.

I nodded slowly trying to control my breathing. Conner’s girlfriend walked over to us and Eli hugged me.

“I’m so sorry, I didn’t think that Conner would snap like that.” She apologized, “Eli I know that you were his first girlfriend and I knew about the deal between you two. I can tell you this now, he hasn’t changed at all; I’ll try to control his temper, you deserve way better then Conner.” She said and then left us.

“Do you…want to head back to your house?” I asked her finally calming down.

“Sounds good.” She laughed lightly and took my hand pulled me towards the front doors to the school. “How did you do that?” She questioned.

“I-I don’t know…instinct I think.” I answered looking down at my free hand.

“Whatever it was, I’m glad that you didn’t get hurt.” She said as we walked out of the school. “Did you want to walk or should I call my parents?” I asked her, I wanted her opinion on this.

“It’s a nice night, why don’t we walk.” She replied with a small smile.

I nodded and we started walking. The fresh air was nice and I enjoy having the conversations that we did as we walked. We made it to her house in a half an hour because we were walking slow so that we could enjoy the night sky. Once we got into her house I called my parents letting them know that I was going to spend the night at her house. I told them that we would be fine and we would make sure to close and lock all the doors and windows before we went to bed. After I hung up I took off my shoes and walked into the house.
