Chapter Fifteen: Mom...Dad...

-Jason-

As I walked down the halls I was confused with all the posters that were being put up. It was interesting to see everything. I had no idea what this even was, but one of the posters caught my eye and I stopped and looked at it. It was my senior picture. I was standing there with a soccer ball resting between my hip and my forearm and the other picture was of Eli resting her head on her basketball and smiling at the camera.

“Vote for homecoming king and queen…” I muttered to myself looking at the picture.

I felt an arm around me and I leaned forward a little bit then straighten back up.

“Do you like the poster Jason, we made it ourselves.” I looked over to my left to see Danielle looking at the poster with me.

Danielle was in my math class and gym class. He was always talking about however since I got here Eli has been smiling more and more each day.

“W-what’s it for?” I asked confused.

“ Homecoming.” He answered with a smile.

“H-homecoming?” I repeated confused.

“It’s the big dance of the year, especially for us seniors. Usually only seniors can be the homecoming king and queen, I saw Conner talking to the yearbook club and then I asked them what it was all about. Conner is trying to get Elijah and him voted homecoming king and queen, so I nominated you two.” He explained.

“Y-you n-nominated us?!” I said surprised.

He smiled and nodded, “Come on man look at your picture’s, you two look great together and no offense, you’re the only one that seems to make her smile.”

I felt my face heat up a bit and I looked down at that ground with a small smile on my face.

“I’m not the only one that thinks so.” Danielle said.

I looked over at him and he was walking away and waved at me. I felt a smile spread across my lips and stuck my hands in my pockets and walked to my next class.

It was the weekend and Eli and I was goofing around with the basketball. After I missed and we raced with Eli to get the ball. We had gotten to the ball at the same time and I felt my heat beat faster and my face heat up. I saw her move her hands off of mine and I grabbed her right hand. I didn’t want to let go.

“Is something wrong?” Eli asked me I looked over at her and smiled.

I took my opened hand and brushed some of her hair out of my face I moved my face in closer to hers and tilted my head a bit. I could feel her breath against my lips as I moved in closer.

The doorbell rang I jumped a bit and pulled away. “I-I should probably get that.” Elijah said standing up and walking back into the house.

I don’t understand this feeling that I’ve been having when I’m close to Eli like that. “Ja, can you come here.” I heard Elijah yell from the house.

I grabbed the ball and set it back down on the concrete and then went into the house. “What is it?” I asked going to the front door and then stopped when I saw two adults standing in the door with Elijah.

“Jason…” The women said

“W-who are you?” I asked stepping back a little bit away from them. I was scared.

“It’s your parents Jason.” Elijah answered walking over to me.

I walked over to them but looked down at the floor. The women that was my mother hugged me and I took a sharp breath in and flinched. “We’ve been looking for you for a long time.” She started to cry.

“I-I don’t…” I started and Elijah cut me off.

“Would you like to come in? I’m sure that my mother and father would like to meet you. Are you two really international doctors?” Elijah asked I looked over at her and she has a smile on her face, but it was a forced smile.

I sat across from the two that called themselves my parents. The woman was pretty with long black hair and brown eyes. The man had matching black hair but with a bit of grey starting t appear at his temples and blue eyes. They looked to be about the same age as Elijah’s parents so it made since for them to be my parents. I had black hair until that last shot that I got from the lab changed it to Orange.

“Did you die your hair son?” The man asked me.

I shook my head and looked down at my hands and started fidgeting. “I-I d-don’t w-want to talk a-about it.” I answered.

I looked over at the door and saw both of Elijah’s parents walk into the door. “Samantha, Patrick!” Elijah’s mother ran over to my “parents” and hugged my mom.

“Elijah why don’t you and Jason go up and get his stuff together.” Her father said.

I stood up and walked with Eli upstairs and to the guest room to my things together. I pulled out a couple of bags and placed my folded clothes in one bag and my dirty clothes in a different bag. I sat down on the bed and looked at the floor. I didn’t want to go. I was happy here with Elijah…

“E-Eli can I ask you something?” I asked.

“What is it?” She asked me.

I took a deep breath and looked up at her, “Will you…go to the dance…with me?” I asked her.
