Psalm

The floor is beneath me;
I shall lie down.
It resteth me upon shag carpets;
It layeth me beside wooden moulding;
It restoreth my spine.
It leadeth me in the motions of Swiffering,
For its shine’s sake.

Yea, though I sit in the Chair of the Poor-Postured Hunchback,
I shall fear no scoliosis;
For thou art ‘neath me.
Thy flatness and thy hardness, they comfort me.
Thou supportest a table beside me in the presence of my dining room;
Thou annointest my head with dust bunnies,
Until I vacuum.
Surely carpet and linoleum shall be tread on by me
All the days of my life;
And I shall pay off the mortgage for their house
Forever.
