This week has been an adventure, in more ways than one.
Anyone who tells me I actually need to pay attention in math class can kiss my sass, because I faithfully do the homework every day (in lieu of actually listening to the lectures, because we are being lectured on things I learned in the sixth grade, like converting decimals to percents to fractions and adding, multiplying, dividing, and subtracting fractions) and got a 99 on my first exam. Without paying attention.
Ha.
Today, I was taken into the fold of Theatre Nerds, as I worked my first scene shop day, and my GOD WAS IT HARD
Have you ever tried to break down a pallet with a crowbar/prybar? It sucks, let me tell you. I busted my behind trying to do it. Next time I'm going to ask to work light and sound and setup instead of tearing those stupid things apart. It might not have been what I signed up for, but I certainly can't take that level of asanine. Let me learn the ropes of literally everything else first, or make me paint a hundred set pieces. Anything but breaking down pallets.
In between studying for exams and whatnot, I've been reading Homestuck for the first time (all the way through, that is. I never made it through Act 1 the first time) and I just got to Act 5, Act 1: Mobius Double Reacharound. I'm kind of confused as to what is going on, but it's a lot easier to follow. More specifically, I just got to the first trolltagonist.
I've got to admit, Homestuck is really stinkin good. Complicated, but really good.
Other fun things I did this week: help Mira frost four and a half DOZEN cupcakes. My hand is screaming at me at this point, because I have not done it justice. (I only actually did about a dozen, she did most of them because she had a better frosting tip to get the job done. I took the hard way out, but it was totally worth it.)
I seem to have acquired quite the Mom Friend status with Robin, since I'm her impulse control voice of reason when it comes to actually getting up to eat breakfast and, you know, taking medicine when she's not feeling well, and getting enough sleep, and, well, you name it. *insert gif of Jim Carrey from The Mask saying "Just call me Daddy!"*
It's barely after ten, but I think I'm going to go ahead to bed. I have a crap ton of studying to do for my art history exam (but not really because I know the material pretty well, I'm still making a review powerpoint anyways) and theatre exam, which is something I know I need to study for, since that class is about as organized as a henhouse with a fox in it. God im so southern
Fare thee well, fellow otakus, and please, for the love of our collective sanity, theOtaku isn't going down the toilet. We need some new traffic, sure, but the core membership will always be here.
Side note, raise your hand if you miss TDE as much as I do.
