The last night at the inn had been fairly busy...and loud. Thanks to that cat. I didn't get any info that way. But it was nice to see someone help that little waitress girl.
Maybe it was time to move on. I needed to train some more. Soon I would be strong enough to get to Area 5 alone. My ear twitched in irritance. One more night here. Maybe some good fortune would befall me.
I went to take a sip of sake when a familiar scent drifted in. Pais was coming in. She headed over to my table. "Ah drinking buddy you're back. How's it going?" She picked up her pop and sipped it. "It is good. You?" I playfully sneered. "Pop? Why not take a real drink? There is no age limit in Eden." She shook her head. "Yuki-San...I don't know how you manage to drink that stuff night after night and yet stay so sharp minded."
I sighed and set my sake down. It's simple really. No matter how real it tastes it is still just a game. I am never really drunk. Like that food you have never really fills you up. Outside of this game our bodies are hooked up in hospitals. That is what is keeping us alive. She looked at me confused for a moment and I grinned. "So I can drink as much as I want. I enjoy the taste and act a fool, so when my enimies appear...I slice them down with ease."
"Do you ever feel bad? About killing them? I mean...you know they die in real life." My eyes narrowed. "This is about survival. I have no time to worry about them. Besides...if they were worried about dying they wouldn't try to kill me first. I only kill those who have killed others." She sipped her pop. "I suppose you're right." I smiled. "Besides Pais-Chan...we each have something we want to go back to. Or we wouldn't fight as hard."
A new face walked into the inn. He had his cloak pulled up. His scent was...off. He headed to the booth in the back corner. When he saw Sig was sitting there he stopped for a moment. Sig had never sent me that friend request. I realized he must have been humoring me. Guys like that don't get far in Eden if they pair up with everyone they speak to. Guess I will have to find someone else to join my group.
"Pais...do you know that guy?" She shook her head. "Never seen him before." I took a sip of sake. "Maybe he is new...he just smells odd." She chuckled. "I can't believe you are worried about someone based on their scent Yuki-San." I huffed at her. "I'll have you know that my nose has saved my life more than once in this place. Besides it pays to be cautious. " She laughed.
"Hmmm...anyway Pais-Chan. I had something I wanted to ask you." She blinked at me. "Awfully serious tonight Yuki-San." I smiled. "I can be when I choose to be, but...would you like to team up with me?" She set down her pop and looked into my eyes. "Seriously? " I nodded. "No jokes tonight kiddo." She gave me a look at the word kiddo. I knew it would bug her. "I am ready to get out of this game. I want to beat it."
She sighed. "You and everyone else." She was right though. "I want to form a group of strong players. To beat each Area of the game. I have a feeling that the way out is in the last Area." Pais shook her head. "Yuki-San...the highest anyone has gotten in Eden is Area 4. No one knows what the other Areas hold in store for us." I smiled. "I am almost strong enough to get to Area 5 alone. I know there are others stronger than me. Someone is bound to have seen 5 by now." "Then they are most likely dead! Why else is there no info on it? Not even on the message boards."
There are boards at the beginning of each Area. They hold messages and info from other players. Anything from monster tips to player info. I have left my mark on many. Leaving tips and tricks for those who are just learning. None held any info about Area 5."Perhaps you are right. But...then won't that make us the first ones there?" She smiled. "You are one crazy fox you know that?" I lifted my sake glass to that. "Indeed I am...but isn't that why you should team up with me? The most crazy and cunning fox is always the one who is victorious."
