So, we got back from the beach on Sunday, about 2 in the morning. The beach was actually pretty fun. There were no sharks (this time) but I did cut my finger on a sharp shell. I will now take this moment to say 'I told you so.' The house we rented was by the sound, so we went kayaking pretty often. That was fun. And there were mosquitos everywhere and everyone was getting bitten but me. And that was awesome.
But whatever. Yesterday was pretty horrible. I'm sort of trying not to think about it to much. We thought that it was going to be a fairly busy day. A long time ago we heard that Cheap Trick, Heart, and Journey were going to play at the state far not far from where we live. I didn't really want to go, but my mom bought five tickets anyway, for last night. And the celtic Festival was that day. Aaaand, a family friend was having a wedding that morning. But the wedding was around two hours away and was early in the morning, so my dad left for it alone. The rest of us were just aiming for the reception a little later. We got into the van, my mom and I, Myself up front, ElectricMonk and The Eighth Sin in the middle, and Parahuman and I in the back. When we had been driving on the freeway for a bit over an hour I had gotten bored, and was staring out the side window. Then I heard my mom gasp and say 'Oh my God'. We don't use the Lord's name in vain, so that means means she actually praying to God. I looked up and a car bouncing and rolling because it had just gone off the road. It looked just like they show in the action movies. It happened so fast, and went so high, I didn't think that could actually happen. Since we had gone to the beach, we still had small blankets in the car that we hadn't bothered to take out yet. We pulled over on the side of the road like a bunch of other cars, and I saw a lot of people on their cellphones calling 911. Someone went back and looked at the last mile-marker to tell them where we were. Everyone else but my mom, Parahuman jumped out and ran towards the car with several other people. I had taken my shoes off so I could put my feet up on the seat, so I tried to hurry and put them back on. When I finally did get them both on I attempted to jump over the seats in front of me, only to lose my right shoe. Parahuman threw it up to me and I hopped down the side of the road pulling my other shoe on. By the time I got there the car was on its side with the driver's side up. A guy, maybe in his early twenties, had pulled himself out and was pulling a girl around the same age up. They both looked kind of shook up, but okay so I thought everything was alright. Then in the confusion thay got out that two people, their parents, were missing from the car. That made everything so much worse. So everyone started searching the woodline bordering the road. There were so many trees and bushes, they could have been anywhere. I went into the woods and not far in was dried-up creek bed. A woman was lying on her back in it. She was awake, and was moving some. I yelled to the others 'over here' and that I had found someone. They asked how many, and I looked down the creek bed to the left. I saw something there some yards away, but I wasn't sure was it was. Then I saw it moving a little bit, and yelled back that there were two of them. Then some people came down to where I was to help the woman, and I went over to the other one. The man was on his stomach and side. Some other people had just gotten there, but no one really knew what to do. A couple nurses had been passing, and stopped to help. One went to the woman, and one went to help the man. But there wasn't really anything they could do because most of the injuries seemed internal. Somebody was running around asking if anyone spoke spanish, because evidently the woman was talking, so the daughter ran down with her, and the driver stayed with his dad, even though he wasn't concious. Then the nurse asked if anyone had a knife, so I, Myself pulled out and gave them her pocket knife. They put the blankets on the woman when she went into shock. I have no knowledge of medical anything, so I went back to the road and the passing cars were slowing and asking what happened and staring. With a few other people I waved them on and yelled at them to keep moving so the ambulances could reach the wreck. This big black guy who was just someone who had stopped when he saw the wreck and keeping everyone else calm. Everybody wanted to help but didn't know how, so he just giving them little jobs, but they seemed relieved that they were doing something. And he cleared cars out in front of the wreck and waved to the ambulances so they knew where to go. And the paramedics got out, and they just seemed so slow. They weren't interested in where the people were or anything, they walked around to the back and calmly opened the doors an pulled on their gloves, and slowly pulled out the gurneys....Yeah, I know, they're supposed to do that. It was just a bit aggravating, that's all. After they got down to where the people were, we didn't have anything to do so we stood back and then went back to the van. My mom was a little shakey, and we weren't at all. It was a strange feeling. All of us that had seen the man...sort of expected him not to make it. Really, I know no medical stuff whatsoever, but I think he had a broken neck. We waited until they got the traffic under control, then kept going. We got to the wedding reception and didn't talk about it at all. It would have really brought the mood down the mood. It's happy that they're married now. They're sort of exactly like each other as the opposite gender. And they're like little hippy hobbits. Okay, they're not as short at hobbits, but I'm taller than both of them. After the reception we headed home. My mom was still a little shakey, plus she hadn't been feeling so well for a few days, so her and my dad took a car, and I, the Eighth Sin, Electric Monk, I, Myself, and Parahuman took the other. When we got close to home I was went with my mom and dad and brother to Celtic Festival while everyone else went home. There was a lady there selling those magnetic bracelets that are supposed to help with joint pain or something. My right elbow gets sore when I type or draw for too long, so my mom stopped to look at them. I got one, even though I don't really believe that it works. But it was pretty, so I figured I might as well just for the looks. Then we went home for a few minutes then headed to the fair. Honestly, the concert was too loud for me. Yeah, I'm a wimp. It was fun, though, but it seemed strange after what just happened. We got home after midnight and went to bed. Then while we were getting ready for church this morning we turned on the tv to the news. And neither the man nor the woman made it. It's strange that they die, and the kids up front didn't even really get a scratch. Maybe the parents weren't wearing seatbelts or something. You hear about fatal car crashes all the time, so a lot of the time you think it's sad, but don't really get it. Just the fact that that could actually happen to somebody....it's just wrong. I can't imagine what the son must be going through. I know this might not be the reason of the deaths, but BUCKLE UP, PEOPLE. Seriously, with all that could happen if you decide just not to do it, it's not worth it.
I'm sorry if I typed all that in a confusing way. I'm not very good at explaining things.
That's all I have to say now, but it was quite a bit.
Have a good day, everyone.
Echo out.
