Today, I have read news at DCComics.com that in this June, DC Comics will launch an 11-issue story arc to expand further on Batman's past according to the history of Prime Earth (better known as the "Post-Flashpoint Earth-0", the "DC New 52 Universe" or "DCnU"). Given the story arc's title "Batman: Zero Year", it's likely that the it will take place within the year before Clark Kent's becoming Superman and the Justice League's formation (according to, I say it again, the DCnU). To help you understand further on what DC's up to, here's a quotation from Batman writer Scott Snyder:
"It’s not 'let’s redo the origin'. It’s time for a new story showing how Batman became who he is in the New 52. We tried to preserve as much of Batman’s history as we could and keep what we could of this history intact. It’s 'The Zero Year', the one that no one has told the story of before. We see how Bruce became the Batman, built the cave, faced off with his first super villain … It’s time for a new story showing how Batman became who he is in The New 52. It builds up the mythology".
The story arc will begin in Batman(Vol. 2) No. 21, which is scheduled for release on 6/12/2013. If you're new to reading Batman comics, this is a story arc you will not want to miss, and check out your nearby comic shop for Batman (Vol. 2) No. 0, Detective Comics (Vol. 2) No. 0, and Batman: The Dark Knight (Vol. 2) No. 0 as they contain fragments of the DC New 52 Universe's version of how Bruce Wayne became Batman.
