Sakura-Con 2008: Let's Get Planning!

Hi there, it's SomeGuy,

It's two weeks until Sakura-Con! It'll be my second year there and I'm absolutely stoked 'cause last year's was great. And of course, one of the best parts to it was our theOtaku.com meet-up! Now I will say that as fun as it was last time, I know this year's can be so much better (for one thing, I'll make sure my camera batteries don't die on me right before the meet-up).

First off, I've got a few questions for everyone:

Who's coming?
Gail and I will definitely be there as press as well as to just be at a great west coast convention. Who else is coming to Seattle at the end of this month? If you're coming, I do hope you make a mention here so we can plan this meet-up together. Further, if you know anyone else at the site who's coming, be sure to pass along the word.

Next...

When can you come to a meet-up?
This is obviously still very flexible as we haven't pinned down a day or time yet. However, at this moment I'm currently thinking maybe Saturday (Day 2) at about noon. Looking over the schedule, there shouldn't be anything to really conflict with this other than the Cosplay Contest Rehearsal (in case anyone's involved with that) or the Vic Mignogna autograph session. Like I said, so far this is only the first idea I've gotten - if anyone has another idea for a possible time to meet, we can discuss those; as for where, we can worry about that later for now.

And finally...

What would you like to do?
Are there any specific things you'd like to do at the meet-up? Any things you've always wanted to ask us about the site? Any games/contests you think we should host? Want to have a lunch/picnic? Ever wanted to know how to disarm a pistol from someone? To do the "Hare Hare Yukai" with a group of site-members? We'd like to know if there's anything in particular you'd like to do.

So those are the questions I shall put forth at this time. I'll now answer a different question:

Why should you come to the meet-up?
This year's meet-up offers a variety of definite features:

  • A chance to touch base face-to-face with people you generally never get to 'see' in a more safe than not environment (you know how those internet peoples can get!)
  • A mountain of free swag courtesy of Gail and all the industry people she knows!
  • Ichigo and Batou of Anime Pulse (and the theOtaku.com Podcast) are gonna be in town! They said they're bringing recording equipment, so we may even get to record a podcast or something at the convention!

This is going to be a lot of fun, and I hope everyone can make it.

(Don't make me have to PM all of you... 'cause I will...)

So, who's game?
