I walked in the direction of my first period class. I ended up going past the signups for the next play that the school was going to do. Romeo and Juliet I looked at the people who signed up from bottom to top and I saw that Miyuki had signed up for Juliet. I felt around in my pockets for a pencil or a pen and I found a pen so I signed up for Romeo. Hell I figured that it would be a laugh if I got the part.
“This should be interesting.” I muttered to myself as I walked away from the signups and went to first period.
The day seemed to be dragging on for me. I hadn’t eaten breakfast because I slept in and just barely made it to school on time. So goofing around with Miyuki this morning was fun. I got her to her class at least so she wouldn’t get yelled at by her teacher as for me I have one more strike before I get a detention. It was alright though I didn’t mind mom doesn’t make me steal things that often. And I think that dad said that they would let me know if something started up. This was code for keep your damn phone on and on vibrate. Instead I kept it on silent that way if we were taking a test then no one could hear it. Because even though it’s not supposed to be heard when it goes off and its quiet in the room you know everyone will hear it.
Finally lunch came and I went to the cafeteria and got a sub and an apple with a bottle of water and I left the cafeteria and went up to the roof.
‘How am I going to tell mom and dad that I’m trying out for the school play…’ I thought and took a bite out of the apple.
“I figured that I would find you up here.” I heard and jumped a bit. I relaxed when I saw it was Miyuki.
“Hey.” I waved and she came and sat down next to me. I took another bit out of my apple. ‘If I do get the part I’m going to have to tell them that when I have to go and steal something it’s going to have to be later at night.’
“What are you thinking about?” Miyuki asked and I looked over at her.
“Oh I’m just thinking that when I get home I’m going to have to tell my parents that I signed up for the school play that’s being held this year.” I smiled.
“You signed up for the play?” She asked taking my sub and opening it.
“Yea…I signed up to try to get the part of Romeo.” I answered I heard her start to cough and I slapped her on the back a couple of times to stop her from chocking. “I know that you signed up for the part Juliet.”
“O-oh so you got there after I did.” She said after swallowing the bit of my sub that she ate without asking me if she could have it.
“Yea, and if we both get the major roles then when it comes the kiss scene maybe it won’t be as weird also it’s just a little peck.” I stated. “…I think.”
Miyuki laughed a little I took another bit out of my apple and opened my bottle of water. “You know I think that you don’t have a dark side Kuori.” She said and I looked at her.
“Why do you say that?” I asked.
“Well I actually think that you have more of a quiet and shy side to you that you really only show when you’re not around me.” She explained.
“Okay…” I said.
“I mean by the way that you just kind of go off on your own sometimes and the way that you don’t care who’s around you, you just sit somewhere and think. You’re really smart on top of it and you’re always quiet in class.” She responded.
I laid down on the roof top with my legs hanging off the ledge. ‘There’s a lot more to me then just that.’ I thought.
“Sorry if that was a bit weird.” She said.
“Don’t worry about it” I muttered and looked up at the sky. “You can have the rest of the sub that you’ve already been eating. I’m not that hungry any more.” I mentioned.
“Oh I’m sorry I didn’t mean to.” She apologized.
“Just eat it I don’t care.” I sighed.
“O-ok.” She said quietly.
I watched the clouds go by.
“What are you looking at?” Miyuki questioned.
“I some up here to be alone and think usually. Well I try to be up here alone, but that doesn’t happen to often unless I tell you that I’m going to go somewhere and then obviously you get worried about me because I haven’t come back with a pass to sign out and you notice that I’m not where I said I was.” I explained.
“How did you know that?” She asked.
“Because you’re easy to read. Maybe that’s why you’re so easily in a daze when you meet Zero. Well that’s what I think anyways.” I sighed and sat up.
She punched me in the side “What is up with you?” She huffed and stormed off back into the school.
“Finally, some piece and quiet to think.” I muttered to myself. I know that I was being mean to her but if it’s the only way to get some sleep then by all means I’m going to do it.
I closed my eyes but I couldn’t get to sleep. I sighed loudly then pulled out my phone to see if my parents had text me. I pressed the end button on my phone and there was a message from dad on there.
I know that you’re in school but there has been another artifact activated. Your mother is going to come and sign you out of school around 8th period.
I closed my phone and looked at what time it was. Lunch study hall was about over so I picked up my water bottle and I walked back down into the school. I threw the apple core into the trash and went to my locker and got my bag then I went into the bathroom. I opened one of the small pockets on my bag and took out a pill and swallowed it.
“If what mom said is right this should allow me to do something new with the curse.” I muttered. I closed up my bag and then walked to my next period class. Not to soon after I got there the phone in the class rang and the teacher told me that I needed to go to the office. My mom was waiting in the office for me as a walked in.
“You ready to go?” She asked.
“Yea.” I answered.
“Alright then it was nice talking to you again.” My mom smiled and we left the school.
“Dad never told me what the new item was that activated.” I stated as we got into the car.
“It’s a painting this time. Don’t worry it will fit in your bag.” She answered.
“So why did I have to leave school early?” I asked confused.
“I wanted you to get some rest before you had to go tonight.” Mom replied and I looked out the window as it took about five minuets to get home by car.
“Ok.” I got out of the car and went into my room.
“Do you want me to wake you when it’s about time for you to go?” She asked
“No it’s alright. I’ll set my phone to go off. What time do you want me to go?”
“Get up around 5:30 so you can leave by 7.” She told me.
I nodded and put the time in my phone then went to my room and laid down.
