Kaji Blue Hair process

Hey MangaKid here!
Man, its been a while that we've had a post! Its ok though... Gives me a reason to start posting myself!
Here's the process of my Kaji w/ Blue Hair? artwork. Sorry, its not really a tutorial post.. Its just another glimpse of how I work^^ I've been forgetting to stop and take pictures of each stage since I usually like to keep concentrated. Also with Copic markers, its better to work as fast as I can while the marker is still wet on the paper... Thats why its hard to capture blending.
Anyway, enjoy!

Ok well there's not much to say here... But I'll mention some things and try not to be boring xD
I started out with a doodle on my notebook. I liked the style and I tried to sketch Kaji on a printer sheet of paper. I was mainly stressed that I wouldn't get the design drawn similarly (and you can see that it's a bit different then my original doodle). I find that the more stages I put into my artwork, the less 'glitches and issues' I have as I go along. Its like the sketching works out all my mistakes so I don't mess up on ink+marker stages^^
Anyhow, after sketching him, I inked it on my good copy paper. As you can also see, I started by colouring parts on the neck. Its good to start with skin colour so that you won't end up smudging anything. And also its good to select parts to work on. I find that Copic will streak if they are allowed to dry. So going over a huge area isn't a good idea. Its better to work in small parts.
I always start with lighter skin colours and work in the shadow. Same wit the hair. Lighter colours go on first and then the darker ones can be shaded in.
In stage 8, I tweaked some things and added some finishing touches!
And I did the background last. I guess the background is supposed to be done first sometimes but I rarely do it that way.
Sorry for the lack of detail in this post! xD I hope you find it interesting though^^

EDIT: Saijinto has brought to my attention that the last 2 stages look like different skin tone colours. I thought I'd better explain... Its not because the marker dries a different colour. It was because I took a picture of stage 8 in my lamplight and stage 9 in natural daylight. Also, I did some editing on picnik.com for lighting and contrast levels! So it was the light and not the markers^^
