Arata Kangatari started in October 2008. The mangaka, Watase Yuu, is the creator of other manga such as Fushigi Yuugi, Ayashi no Ceres (Ceres: Celestial Legend), Alice 19th, Imadoki, Zettai Kareshi (Absolute Boyfriend) and many, many more.
In Japan, Arata is released on a weekly basis in the Shōnen Sunday publication. Currently there are 5 tankouban released. There are 51 chapters currently scanlated into English, although more than that have been released.
The series has recently been picked up by VIZ media under the name Arata: The Legend. So far they have released 6 chapters in English and the first U.S. graphic novel is slated for release on March 9, 2010. If you like Arata, please show your support by picking it up!
