The Asterisk War

Plot: In the wake of a disaster known as Invertia, the Integrated Enterprise Foundation takes control. The city of Asterisk is segmented into six academy districts. At each school, the students, many of them super-powered "Genestella", compete in games known as Festas.
Ayato Amagiri has come to Seidokan Academy looking for answers to what happened to his missing older sister. After certain harem antics events lead to his meeting with Princess Julis-Alexia von Riessfeld, Ayato becomes the wielder of a special weapon and teams up with Julis to fight in the Festas. (B-)

Characters: Harem bait Main character is likable but flat. Some characters are simply there as harem stereotypes. (B-)

Artwork & Animation: A-

Voice Acting: B+

Music: B

Objectionable Content: Suggestive themes/innuendo, blood, profanity

Other: Harem This is based on a light novel that apparently has a number of clones. Another light novel adaptation with nearly the same first episode aired at the same time. The fanservice-laden harem antics get old pretty quick. (I can deal with it to a point, but when they shove it down your throat as blatantly as this does for really no good reason, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.) As far as actual story goes, Asterisk does have some redeeming qualities. And some of the characters do develop in nice ways. Unfortunately, for this one, the negative aspects (including some later plot elements) outweigh the positive.
