I don't have any suggestions for you. Looks like you have a pretty long list as it is. Oh I suppose I could mention Elton John. My mom has a bunch of stuff by him. He's not my favorite but he does have some songs that I actually like.

Wow, long list is long...
I'll just suggest one band that I really like and you might: The Bravery. They have two CDs out in the U.S. right now, "The Bravery" and "The Sun and Moon"; I prefer their first album, but both are pretty good IMO.
I'd suggest trying these songs specifically:
From "The Bravery"
An Honest Mistake
Tyrant
Public Service Announcement
Out of Line
From "The Sun and the Moon"
This Is Not the End
Time Won't Let Me Go
Above and Below
The Ocean
We've already established our tastes are pretty different, but here goes:
10 Years
Alice in Chains
...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead
Audioslave
The Billions
The Bird and the Bee
Blue October *they've recorded with Imogen Heap. yeps*
The Bravery
Eisley
The Exies
Flyleaf
Foo Fighters
The Kooks
Modest Mouse
Muse
Nine Inch Nails
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
People in Planes
The Raconteurs
The Shins
Sixx AM
The Smashing Pumpkins
Sonata Arctica
Stone Temple Pilots
The Strokes
Theory of a Deadman
Thursday
Rufus Wainwright
Thom Yorke

Are you the big Nightwish fan around here? (I guess there are several, but I don't remember who the starting nexus was...) If so, what would you recommend other than Dark Passion Play?

Here are some suggestions:
-- Led Zeppelin
-- David Bowie (everyone needs more Bowie)
-- Pixies
-- Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
-- Beck
-- Queens of the Stone Age
-- Dinosaur Jr.
-- The Velvet Underground
-- Sonic Youth
-- Patti Smith
-- Television ("Marquee Moon" is one of the great epic rock songs, seriously)
-- Talking Heads
-- The Who
-- Black Sabbath
-- Rush
-- Cibo Matto
-- Deep Purple
-- The Clash
I love Guns 'N' Roses musically, but I'm in the camp that hates Axl's voice, so I am always frustrated when listening to them.

There are names on that list that I am not familiar with, or rather... I've probably heard stuff by them, and just haven't got the name associated with the song yet.
Do you have anything by Kamelot? They're a good band. :p
More music is always nice. ^_^ I actually have stuff by Chicago, several Nightwish cd's and REO Speedwagon (the hits) There are more that I want to get though. So many good artists out there.

You pretty much listed everything I listen to. And then those who listed stuff in comments covered everything else.
I'm not picky when it comes to music. You know that.
