Decision Time

Drip... drip... drip...

Water dripped from the opening above myself at a constant rate that was driving me clinically insane. My left arm... or my left stub... was starting to throb again... I never knew physical pain but it wasn't something I was fond of. Sasori had somehow managed to reactivate the pain sensors in my brain and was now taking great pleasure in shoving metal pikes through my bone... like the one that busted my kneecap out.

Drip... drip... drip...

Anger rising, I looked at the crate covering my cell... my 5' by 5' cell... and it was about 20 feet deep. Onyx clawed at the walls of my mind in a frenzy, the poor demon thought she was locked back up in Hell... I sympathized with her. If the succubus and angel weren't in more control of my body, I would be just like Onyx... screaming for my release. Suddenly, a rat scurried over my feet and I kicked it against the wall in front of me.

Drip... drip... drip...

I couldn't take this torture anymore... I glanced at my left "stub" and tried to picture my arm there... which I couldn't... sadly...

"SASORI. I'VE MADE MY DECISION!" I bellowed upward.

A dark and sinister cackle bounded off the walls and into my sensitive ears... he had destroyed my ear drums and they were in the progress of healing. I winced, which got me another laugh.

"So the mighty have fallen." The crate lifted, and two thin strings snagged onto my shoulders. I was lifted out of the cell waiting for my shoulder to slice off... but they never did... not even as Sasori threw me against a wall.

Gingerly, I rose to my legs... mostly my right leg... and glared at Sasori. "You're such a lovely host." I spat.

"You'd be wise to watch your tone with me... but that's the problem! You're not wise." He slapped me across the face but I wouldn't allow him a reaction. I'd been through worse.

My head whipped to the side and I slowly returned to his hateful gaze.

I didn't give it another minute, I tackled Sasori onto the cold hard floor and grasped the hand that held my heart. Finally ready for this... I clenched my hand around the hateful organ and it exploded, covering me in my own blood...

At max, I had about 15 minutes before I completely blacked out... for the next few days... and after that, I would rise again... without my memories. I sprinted through the hideout... weakening with every step... but I was finally healing... probably because of the blood that entered my mouth.

Kakuzu's door came into view and I skidded to a halt... I didn't bother to knock... I just opened the door and slipped into the shadows... concealing me from human and immortal eyes. He was perched at the end of his bed, his elbows on his knees and his head in his stitched hands... I slipped out of the shadows and wrapped my arms around his neck from behind.

"Who's there?!" He turned as if to strike, but then realized who had placed their hands so close to his neck and settled, "Alex..."

I put my fingers over his mouth and kisses him, "Don't say anything, I don't have much longer... but you should know... I'm going to be perfectly fine... back in fighting form even..." I wrapped my arms around him one more time, but I'm sure he heard the sadness in my voice... he gazed at the arm that wasn't there and his jaw dropped, "What did he DO to you?!"

Such a sweet man... "I told you, I'm going to be fine..." My eyes tampered shut... as Sasori appeared in the doorway... he shoved something into my chest before I could object... something warm pooled out of my mouth...

In a panic, I looked down at my chest... where a poisoned heart was in the process of healing from the previous scarring...

NO!

Kakuzu stood and slammed Sasori against the wall, "Get the hell out of here." Clearly defeated... Sasori left. Leaving me alone with Kakuzu... that damn warm liquid still dripping down my chin, I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand and it was covered in the red substance that I so detested... my own blood.

Finally turning back towards me, Kakuzu's eyes opened wide, "Alex... your mouth... you're bleeding too much!" He tried to wipe the blood away, but I stopped him... It wouldn't be necessary in a couple of minutes...

"Time to say goodbye..." I rasped... my air ways constricting... damn...

"What do you mean goodbye? You said you were going to be fine!"

"Yeah... but I'm going to have to leave you for a few days before that can happen..." Black started to cloud my vision... it was time.

"... Leave...?" He seemed to understand.

"Love you..."

And that was all I knew.
