I Met Death on a Bed in December

“I saw you were on a date too.” Evalena said. “I saw she was looking at me for awhile. Do I know her? I don’t recognize her but that could be because I don’t have a good memory with faces.”

“That on top of other things.” Denver muttered looking away. Evalena flinched but composed herself quickly and pretended that she heard nothing.

“Yeah, she saw that I knew you and asked who you were. I told her your name and apparently Trey and John have said a lot about you that she was glad to have a face go with the description. She thinks you’re pretty.” Why’d I say that?

“Really?” Evalena seemed only half interested now and her eyes were glancing up at Denver every now and then. “Well tell her I thank her. What’s her name? Maybe Trey or John has mentioned her to me. Is it Andy?”

“No Andy is thinner with copper coloured hair.” I muttered.

“Oh.” Evalena said.

“So who are you?” Denver imposed. “And who are Trey and John? I’m sorry but since I’m not affiliated with anyone here but Eve, I’m going to have to excuse us since I have an early day tomorrow and I need to get Cinderella here back to her home.” Denver started walking towards the other side of the lot but Evalena staid where she was. “That’s alright Denver.” Evalena called. “I want to stay out a bit longer so you can just go home.”

“What?” Denver said turning around, temper rising.
