I often wonder what goes through people's heads when they become a member of government. Seriously, it's like common sense goes out the window and they turn into utter morons, literally. So sit down and prepare yourself for a rant (or simply move on if you're not interested) about the state I live in cause right now, they have their heads up you know where and it makes me want to smack them all silly.
I’m sure a lot of you have heard about the federal stimulus money deals. Well apparently Utah has decided to not take the 1.7 billion. Why? Because they’re morons, that’s why. They objected on the grounds that they were required to open up who would be eligible when it comes to unemployment. That’s right, they had to let more people qualify but that’s something they won’t do.
They won’t do it because it won’t trigger a tax increase and they would rather dip into the state’s rainy day fund. Why? Because they’d rather do more cuts (resulting in people losing jobs) and increase gas tax, food tax and increase tobacco tax. They’d rather let people lose their jobs and do without instead of changing it so more people can get the unemployment that the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT would pay for.
It gets better. They want to slash childcare services by 3.2 million. If they do this, then they’re not eligible for an addition 42 million from the government. So they’re going to cut off their nose to spite their faces because they want total control over where the money is spent. They’re being forced to be more accountable and instead of doing it, instead of opening up and letting those people who are hardest hit get help, they turned it down.
What makes me laugh the most is how all of the Republicans here are whining like babies that the stimulus package is a bad idea. Mainly because they can't just take the money and stuff it wherever they want. And yet they’re fine with cutting back and laying people off and raising taxes. I think I'll end here or this will become more than a simple rant.
