"Make something every day and change your life!" -Noah Scalin

The only rule is: there are no rules!

Most Important: Don't stress out. Remember, this about taking little steps. When doing your daily project, focus on the current day and don't think about tomorrow, next week, or next month. Big projects can be incredibly daunting, but you'll be amazed at what you can do when you break them down into a series of tiny, manageable pieces.

The key to a successful daily project is deciding on a subject or medium that you will enjoy exploring for a year.

Keep in mind that a simpler idea will go a lot farther than a complicated on. If you choose a consistent subject matter (skulls, stars, smiley faces, chihuahuas, etc.), pick something you already like. You probably have plenty examples of it in your environment to inspire you, and you'll be less likely to get tired of it before a year is over.

and lastly, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT DOCUMENT!!!!! take pictures/video of not only the finished product. maybe take some of you in the process of making the project. and if it is something that will change over time (snow melting, food rotting), document that as well.

~-~-I will post the day's prompt early in the morning. when i finish my project, i will upload the documentation. in the evening i will post tomorrow's prompt to give you a head's up with the spoiler alert. ~-~-

all prompts and the above introduction rules are from the book A Daily Creativity Journal 365 Make Something Every Day And Change Your Life! by Noah Scalin

DAY 25

DAY 25 PROMPT: it's not easy being green. work only with green-colored materials today. try working on a green surface for a real challenge.

i downloaded the sketch app for my new tablet yesterday and made a green minty kitty! though it did take me some time to figure out how to change the tool and the colors. but i'm pleased with my minty kitty. i think i might shrink it a bit more and make it my new avatar.

DAY 26 PROMPT: make something portable (or that seems portable) that normally isn't.

DAY 24

PROMPT: work with nature. go to your yard or a nearby park and collect materials to work with.

i was really tempted to paint a bunch of my mom's rocks. my parents think it's cool to have a bunch of rocks outlining the house. but i knew she'd be upset to find some of her precious rocks all colorful. so instead i filled my bucket with a bunch of them and made a sleeping kitty in our back yard. and when i picked them up to put them back, i noticed that they had left a faint outline in the grass. cool. two kitties for the price of one.

DAY 24 PROMPT: it's not easy being green. work only with green-colored materials today. try working on a green surface for a real challenge.

DAY 23

PROMPT: waste not. dig in a recycling bin for all of today's materials.

i almost forgot about today. i was going to nap before going to see a movie and just barely remembered. so i grabbed the box from last night's dinner, chicken alfredo, and cut it up to make a chicken alfredo cat. and here is sammie, the kitty from yesterday, modeling with the rest of the cut up box.

DAY 24 PROMPT: work with nature. go to your yard or a nearby park and collect materials to work with.

DAY 22

PROMPT: create a bridge. connect two things in a creative way. it could be small enough for an amoeba or big enough for an elephant to cross it.

i was innititally going to make a bridge out of stuffed cats, but that seemed like a stupid idea. so i decided to make a bridge with a kitty treat. bogart will eat treats from my hand, but he wasn't patient enough to let dad take a picture of us. so i tried again with sammie. so this is my hand and my brother's cat sammie. the treat is a bridge between me and him.

DAY 23 PROMPT: waste not. dig in a recycling bin for all of today's materials.

DAY 21

PROMPT: write a ten-word love story. Bonus: illustrate it!

DAY 22 PROMPT: create a bridge. connect two things in a creative way. it could be small enough for an amoeba or big enough for an elephant to cross it.
