The character I chose as a representation for the tragic ladies is Yang Xiao Long from the series RWBY. While at first Yang is not the tragic girl at first. However she is because her mother abandoned her at birth. So she has made it her mission to find out who her birth mother is. While Summer Rose was her adopted mother and Ruby's birth mother, she died from some unknown tragedy. So she was once again left motherless.

However despite loosing two mothers she had a cheerful upbeat attitude. Her specialty when fighting originated around the Ember Celica. With these she was able to shoot fire at her enemies. And the more hits she took, the more powerful she became. She was able to channel the damage she took into incredible flames and her eyes would turn red and her hair would be set ablaze, kind of similar to Shana from Shakugan no Shana.

....WARNING, THE FOLLOWING BELOW THIS SENTENCE IS SPOILER FOR RWBY. IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE SERIES, PLEASE DON'T READ BEYOND THIS POINT....

However more tragedy befalls Yang in the finale of RWBY season 3 as she fights Adam in an attempt to avenge Blake. Adam did something cruel and cut off her arm and with her arm that once fiery confidence was shattered as well. So she was left in a depression after she recovered and currently she wonders what life will hold for her. Ruby said goodbye to her sister and set off to try to fight the evil that had befallen the world of Remnant.

In the wallpaper I did my best to portray Yang's fall from a once bright burning flame to a dim light barely hanging on to anything. I put a lot of my own feelings into this wallpaper because I can relate to how she feels. Even though I haven't lost my arm, I have lost people and things that were important to me at one point in my life.

I made a collage of Yang with her confident self on the left. And her fallen state on the right to further illustrate her fall from grace. I blended it with textures I felt would help further enhance the effect I was going for. This took me a couple hours to make all together. I did my best to put my own self into it. I am pretty proud of the outcome.

Yang is my favorite tragic girl because while she has been through a lot, she still got up and kept going and did her best to keep a positive attitude. She was kind to her friends and her sister Ruby. She is just overall an amazing character in which is expanded upon in Volume 4 of RWBY. I look forward to seeing how she handles her new state of existence and I hope she comes back from it even stronger than before.
