The Yamato Crew's Department Uniform Color Codes

• Red on White: Combat (consisting of Gunners, Commandos, and Fighter Pilots)
• Green on White: Navigation, Radar
• Blue on White: Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Repair
• Red-Orange on White: Engine Room Personnel
• Black on Yellow (Yellow on White for spacesuits): Living Arrangements, Medical, Communications, Survey/Analysis, Kitchen(in "Yamato III")
• Yellow on Black: Black Tiger/Cosmo Tiger Pilots
• White on Blue: Kitchen (in first "Yamato" series)
• Black on White: Communications Technicians, Physics
• Yellow on White: Cosmo Tiger Support Personnel
• Blue-Grey on Blue: Torpedo Boat Pilots

Note: In the first "Yamato" T.V. series, there is a one time moment where Capt. Juzo Okita wears a black-on-white uniform (although he's not of any of the departments I just mentioned), and seeing that Susumu Kodai still wears the red-on-white uniform while commanding Yamato in "Yamato III" (even as to indicate he's leading the combat group), it appears that anyone in official command of this battleship has choice as to whether to wear any of those color-code uniforms or to where the sea captain-esque uniform.
