The only time I have ever seen Peirrot style makeup look good is in professional photoshoots of clowns or Harley Quinn cosplayers. Doing the makeup properly takes more than just Halloween store face paint and eyeliner!

If you want a dark lipstick for your gothic look, I suggest REVLON's Super Lustrous lipstick #646: Sultry Sable. The color is a blend between wine and plum. It's a creme finish, fragrance and shimmer free. It's pretty affordable, I got it on sale for about $1.50 but was regularly around $5. The only downside to it is that it tends to bleed without a lip liner. Online it's marked up at like eight bucks so try finding it at Walmart or Kroger (where I got mine).
I wear #646 for my day time goth look too because it's so versatile. I originally bought it because I practically collect dark lipsticks (and it was super cheap) but now it serves as a replacement for my old regular wear lip color.
