Full Name: Ulrich Henrikson

Pronunciation: Uhl-rick Hen-rick-suhn

Empire: Devaneir

Gender: Male

Age: 16

Height: 5'7"

Weight/Body Type: Average build, more muscular arms, and normal boy weight for that, I guess?

Hair: Dark brown, wavy, and shaggy. Like in his eyes shaggy. Doesn't go past his ears, though.

Eye Color: Dark blue

Features: He has some burns on his arms and hands. His face is perfectly average looking. Like dwarves, he wears a lot of furs. They have sent him out in light armor on this journey.

Abilities: He is stronger than a normal human, but not as strong as a real dwarf. He also has a high pain tolerance, and he is a decent blacksmith. He wields an axe alright.

Likes: Meat, alcohol, feasts, celebrations, good friends, and poetry

Dislikes: Small animals, sharing, evil-doers, and rain

Strengths: He is a generally good guy who means well. Others tend to find him easy to talk to. He is not often offended by breaches of etiquette. He's good at writing poetry. :DD

Weaknesses: His dwarven customs can easily offend others. He is most often offended and angered by insults. He's bad with magic, long range attacks, and being seductive.

Traits: Boisterous, self-serving, friendly, intelligent, rude, fun, and sarcastic.

Relationships: He has friends, but he has not had many romantic relationships. When it comes to romance, the dwarves find it hard to look past his lack of attractive physical features.

Family: He was adopted by a lovely dwarf couple after being found near Dwarf Village in the mountains as a baby. He is human, but was raised with their customs. Both of his parents work in the mines.

History: This was it. He was sixteen now, a man, and it was time to begin his quest. Once Ulrich finished this quest, he would return home to fulfill his sacred duty. Yes, the Gods had declared long ago that he would be a blacksmith, but this quest would prove once and for all that he was capable. Once he came back alive, that is. After he found a quest.

Zaeres's Heartbreak

Zaeres sighed as she walked through the lush, green forest. She snuck out of the house, in an attempt to stop her father from smothering her. She loved her father dearly, but there were just moments that she wished she could be invisible. That was why she usually escaped to the forest. With her dark green hair and a green or brown cloak, she could easily blend into the forest. The peace she searched for she found in here. She moved swiftly and quietly, gently trailing her fingers over the bark of the trees.

Her thoughts roamed all over the place as she contemplated her arranged marriage that she was to have. “Why now?” She asked herself quietly. “Of all times, why now? Don’t elves usually marry for love? If that is true why is he making me marry someone I don’t know?” She sighed and began to climb her favorite tree. “It just doesn’t make sense!” She continued. She reached her destination and looked around for her usual visitor. She frowned when she didn’t see the white barn owl that had taken residence in her favorite spot.

She shrugged and closed her eyes. The forest was unusually quiet today and that had her somewhat on edge. Usually the animals would chatter and chirp when she made her patrols. The leaves shifted and crackled unnaturally and Zaeres could tell that someone else was in the forest with her. “So that’s why it’s quiet.” She mused. She looked around to find the intruder and smirked when she saw the platinum blonde hair. ‘Rythiel.’ She thought to herself. She waited for him to walk underneath the branch she was on. She smirked again and quietly jumped from the branch. She landed softly and began to sneak up quietly behind him. Like a predator stalking its prey, she waited for the right moment and then pounced. She jumped onto his back causing him to yell out in shock.

She giggled and jumped off of him as he tried to gather his composure again. “You know you should be quieter when you start stomping through the forest like that. The animals becoming silent gave you away and then there were the leaves.” She almost laughed again, but his expression was too solemn and that frightened her. Ever since she had known Rythiel, he had always been happy. To see this emotion on his face scared her. “What’s wrong?” She asked. She clasped her hand over her chest as her heart started to race and her breathing quickened.

“Zaeres, my parents have chosen a bride for me.” He mumbled quietly. Her eyebrows receded into her hairline in shock. She looked down to the forest floor and then to the sky. The tension in the air quickly became thick as the silence remained through several minutes. Zaeres forgot to breathe for a moment and gasped for breath.
“You too?” She asked, still in shock. Her question broke the silence that had been building, but it did nothing to sooth their minds. She found a log close by and eased herself down so she could sit on it. Rythiel looked at her, shock and confusion quickly being replaced by sadness and pity.

He sat down on the log with her and took her hands in his. “It’s going to be okay.” He said, calmly. Zaeres began to cry. She didn’t want to lose her best human friend to another elf woman. They wouldn’t be able to talk and visit each other anymore. She fisted her hands in his cloak and began to cry silently at first, but soon she couldn’t control the sobs that wracked her body. Rythiel held her close to his chest and tried to calm her down.

“I can’t lose you! I’ve already lost my mother and brother! I can’t lose you too!” She croaked. “I don’t want to lose you! The other people of the city don’t get me as you do! Most of them think that I can’t speak at all.” She sniffled. “I don’t want to lose my best friend!” She said. Rythiel sighed.

“We might not lose each other. Maybe there is something we can do to get out of this? I’m going to talk to my adviser and see what he says. Maybe you should do the same thing.” Zaeres dried her tears using the sleeve of her cloak and nodded her head. She felt safe in his arms. He understood her personality and the meaning behind her actions. She would go and speak with the advisor first thing in the morning, however, right now she just wanted to talk with her friend and catch up with him.

They switched the subject of their conversation and continued to talk like they usually did. Teases, jokes, and insults were tossed in with words of encouragement and stories of new adventures. They stayed that way for several hours, just sitting and chatting hoping for their time to not end.

Soon after Zaeres’s mother went into labor, both she and the baby died. Her mother’s death caused Zaeres to withdraw into herself, becoming isolated amongst her people. Her father, Lord Arthion, deeply mourned the loss of his wife and child. His mourning almost caused him to forget he even had a daughter until she almost drowned. Ever since that incident, Zaeres has been terrified to go near large bodies of water and refuses to go in them. Ever since then Zaeres turned to wondering around in the forest. There she learned several skills and discovered her magic. She found comfort in the animals and plants that grew around her and needed her help. It was also there where she met her good friend Rythiel.
