"It would be weird if she stayed with us..." Yusuke said. "We're all dudes."

"Then, you are welcome to stay at my dojo for the time being." Genkai's gnarly voice offered. "I will warn you, child, my rules for staying are very strict."

I wonder what living in the human plane will be like...? Suika thought, looking out the window of the dojo later on. Easier, I suppose.

Tph. Her fox ears flicked up and in the direction of the doorway.

Sheesh! I didn't even sense him near me! Suika's calmed her pounding pulse, facing the man with soft locks of crimson hair swaying in the wind. My instincts are already getting rusty.

"Genkai isn't here." Suika told him.

"I'm aware of that." Kurama said, walking in.

Hmmm?!" Suika blinked three times fast.

"Do you have a moment?" He asked politely, looking ashamed.

"Mm." She nodded. He stopped right in front of her, the height difference finally registering as he loomed over her.

"I apologize for my previous behavior." Kurama said softly. "...But the idea of a high-classed demon roaming the human plane is discomforting to me...and by no means above suspecting such as a threat."

"What are you? The demon police?" Suika scowled.

"In a sense." Kurama nodded, unaffected by her blatant sarcasm. "That aside, you becoming our ally does not change that."

"Mrrrr..." Suika suppressed a growl, her fox ear twitching. "What? Do I have to save your life to gain your trust?"

"It's simpler than that." His soft voice said evenly. "For starters, tell me the REAL reason you're here." His deep green eyes locked on her face, surveying her expression.

"..." She lost her voice, her muscles locking up tensely.

That gaze... I feel like he's piercing into my mind... It's terrifying... She tried her hardest not to tremble. There's no doubt...It IS him... What shred of doubt she had left slipped from her tired mental grasp.

"...Because you did...Yoko Kurama-sama." She answered faintly, falling into submissive posture, with her head bowed and eyes downcast. "I look up to you." She paused, feeling awkward and self-conscious. "I wanted to meet you..."

"..." Kurama's face was expressionless. "You don't even know me." He said factually. "What am I to you...?" He asked; his voice was steady and quiet. "....A comic-strip hero? ....A celebrity? ....An idol?"

"...It's true that I was told about you through demon plane stories, but-" She began.

"So if you had been told about some else sooner, you'd be after them right now?" Kurama enquired.

"!" Suika gasped, appalled by what he said. "How dare you!" Her neon-green eyes jerked to his and she made fists. "That's why I'm here! To see if they're true!" She combated. "I wanted to get to know you!"

"Then you can leave, 'cause that's not going to happen." Kurama said and walked away, as casually as if he'd said, 'Good day, ma'am'.

"Hnnnn?!" Suika's fox ears stood straight up and her hair prickled. That...That jerk! She glared at his back fiercely, her posture ready to brawl. I don't care if I'm challenging his dominance! I hope he feels my bloodlust and attacks me so I can gash him up, even if it's just a little!....Urk. She dropped her claws, realizing that he terribly outranked her and the end result would be her death.

Never mind... She took a deep breath of air to clear her head and caught a whiff of a demonic scent. Her eyes shot open. That'll work.

She chased down the scent, sprinting so fast that those she knocked down were not only uncertain of what hit them, but were seriously considering either a freight train or a rocket launcher missile.

Almost there... She thought. She gradually slowed down to a dainty, one-footed stop.

WHHHHHHAAAAANNNNGGGG!!!!!

The tree Hiei was in shuddered violently, knocking him out of it and causing him to land on his head. He saw an upside down view of an irate fox demon, with the heel of her metal stiletto embedded into the tree from kicking it.

"You want that fight, Hiei?" Suika snarled.
